Perrie Edwards sends fans wild with solo single details after Little Mix split
Perrie Edwards has delighted her fans by finally announcing her debut solo single is coming - and it will be released very soon.
The 30-year-old singer is a member of girl group Little Mix who formed via The X Factor back in 2011 but the group went on hiatus in May 2022. Ever since, fans have been eagerly waiting for Perrie to announce details of her first solo music offerings - and now their prayers have finally been answered.
On Tuesday, the star shared an image via social media showing her reaching towards the camera while the sun was shining behind her. Dressed in black and wearing gold jewellery, Perrie looks serene in the image against a pale blue sky backdrop. Her name is also featured in huge writing alongside the title of her debut song.
She uploaded the image to her Instagram alongside a statement reading: "Here's the truth of it…. Wow it's happening!! My first solo single Forget About Us is coming, available to pre-save now." Fans were thrilled by the news and took to the comments section to share their excitement. One wrote in response: "oh here we goooooo." And another typed: "And we cannot wait!"
While an official release has not yet been revealed, fans are convinced the single will drop on 12 April. She had previously teased a music announcement stating: “2 truths and 1 lie about Perrie’s music… Perrie’s debut single is coming within the next 2 months. The track duration is 3:12. 1204 is not a real producer. Which one’s the lie?” - with many fans speculating "1204" signified a 12 April release date. The single has been written by Perrie and co-written by Ed Sheeran.
X Factor's Honey G spills on strict fitness regime after two stone weight lossLast November, Perrie gave details about the music she was creating as a solo artist. She told fans via Instagram at the time: "I've met some incredible writers, incredible producers; people I've never worked with before. It's been really fun, I've loved it. It's been a very different process to being in the band. I think it's brought me out of my shell a lot; I used to use [Jade and Leigh-Anne] as my comfort blanket in the studio.
"It's quite intimidating, writing with amazing writers and producers in the room. If you have an idea, you're like 'what about this?' But then you feel a bit silly. I've had to come out of my shell. Going into the process, I sat down with my label and said 'I don't know if I want to write that much, I don't know if I'm a very good writer. I've always been with the girls."
She continued: "As the process went on and I started pushing myself more, I realised that I actually love to write music. That was a surprise to me. It's been nice to be [at my home studio], gaining the confidence to write my own music. Trust me, I'm desperate to give you music - but I just want to perfect it and make sure it's 100 per cent what I want to release and what I want you to hear. I'm cooking away, getting it all ready and I can't wait to share it with you."
