Bacary Sagna picks out Arsenal's three most important players under Mikel Arteta

Former Arsenal star Bacary Sagna has hailed Granit Xhaka, Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey for their roles in the North Londoners' stunning turnaround this season.

Mikel Arteta ’s men enjoyed an electric first-half of the season and deservedly lead the Premier League by eight points. They have only lost one match in the entirety of the campaign and look a certainty to return to the Champions League next season.

It remains to be seen whether they are able to continue that excellent form throughout the remainder of the campaign and with it end their near two decade wait for a domestic league title. Sagna, an Arsenal player for seven years, is convinced that the Gunners have what it takes to lift the trophy come May.

Speaking to FindMyCasino, he said: “I think so! They have all the ingredients to be champions. Most importantly the way they play.

“The mentality Arsenal start every game with, the consistency they have and the trust they show in their own play is great. They don’t concede many chances and when they do, in Ramsdale they have a goalkeeper that can stop the other team from scoring. They have all the signs of champions.”

The Frenchman also claimed that three players in particular have played a key role for the Gunners so far this season. He added: "It’s the best Arsenal I’ve seen I would say, since my side in 2007-2008...I think it’s a scary Arsenal now.

“They are dedicated and you know they won’t let it slip, as a team they are one and they won’t let it slip. I was impressed by Odegaard yet again, they way he organises the game, the way he plays...Partey plays like he’s in his garden!

“Xhaka is so important in organising the game, defensively and always being in the right place at the right time."

The Gunners will be attempting to continue their push for a Premier League title at the weekend with another considerable test of their credentials. They welcome in-form Manchester United to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have won seven successive matches in all competitions since returning from the World Cup - a run that includes a recent comeback victory against fierce rivals Manchester City. Victory over Arsenal this weekend would put Erik ten Hag ’s men just six points behind the Gunners.

Meanwhile, the North London side could potentially extend their advantage over Manchester City to 11 points should they run-out victors on home soil. Following their showdown with United, Arsenal then face Pep Guardiola’s men in the FA Cup fourth round before a clash with Everton.
