CNN's Don Lemon has said that Elon Musk cancelled his X partnership

CNN's Don Lemon has said that Elon Musk cancelled his X partnership, mere hours after filming the first episode of his new show and interviewing the SpaceX CEO.

Taking to X to release a statement today, about his cancelled show, Don said: "Elon Musk has cancelled the partnership I had with X, which they announced as part of their public commitment to amplifying more diverse voices on their platform."

He added: "He [Elon] informed me of his decision hours after an interview I conducted with him on Friday." But despite his partnership with being cancelled, according to the statement, his episode with Elon will premiere Monday, March 18 on YouTube and X.

Don added that there were "no restrictions" on the interview that Elon agreed to, noting how his questions were "respectful" and how they had a "good conversation". But Don added that "clearly" Elon "felt differently", hence why he cancelled their partnership.

But fans of Don seem a little confused by the statement, with one writing: "But what does that actually mean? You're still here on X? What have you lost?"

Someone else then said: "He doesn’t like tough questions," referring to Elon, while another added: "Sounds like you’re punishing Don for his speech, Elon Musk. Doesn’t sound very free speech-y to me sir."

Last year the news broke that CNN had "parted ways" with Don, who co-hosted the network's popular morning show. At the time, the network said "we wish him well" amid the star's departure.

Don was fired from CNN following on-air remarks he made about Republican Nikki Haley, 51. He said that she was not "in her prime". In February 2023 he said: "When a woman is considered to be in her prime - in her 20s, 30s and maybe her 40s. I'm just saying what the facts are - Google it."

And mere weeks ago, back in January, the former CNN anchor announced The Don Lemon Show. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Don said: "I've heard you... and today I am back bigger, bolder, freer! My new media company's first is The Don Lemon Show.

"It will be available to everyone, easily, whenever and wherever you want it, steaming on the platforms where the conversations are happening. And you'll find it first on X, the biggest space for free speech in the world."

He went on: "I know now more than ever that we need a place for honest debate and discussion without the hall monitors. This is just the beginning so stay tuned."
