One of Hollywood's hottest gangster actors is set to appear in the Celebrity MasterChef kitchen, according to reports.

The BBC One show, hosted by Gregg Wallace and John Torode, returns later this year and is said to have already signed up actor Tamer Hassan, who has starred in films, including The Football Factory, Layer Cake, Batman Begins and The Business.

Well-known for his gritty roles on the big screen, the Londoner, 55, is apparently a bit of a foodie and "jumped at the chance" to show off his culinary prowess on the primetime show. Speaking about his rumoured appearance on Celebrity MasterChef, an insider said: "Fans will be surprised but Tamer actually considers himself a bit of a chef when it comes to the kitchen.

They added: "He's really competitive so when the BBC asked him to sign up he jumped at the chance. He's determined to win," reports The Sun. A spokesperson for the programme said: "We do not comment on speculation over the Celebrity MasterChef line-up." The Mirror has contacted Tamer's reps for further comment.

Celebrity MasterChef wouldn't be Tamer's first foray into reality TV after the actor rocked up on Love Island in 2019 when his daughter Belle was in the villa. The movie hardman came face-to-face with the influencer's now ex Anton Danyluk, who made Belle cry and then boil with rage after he chose to kiss Anna Vakilis in a task "because she is the best kisser in the villa".

Tamer also thought the Scottish gym owner was "disrespectful and disloyal" for giving a shop assistant his number during a task, even if Anton insisted it was just banter with the boys. The actor said at the time: "Anton is 100 per cent wrong for kissing Anna. It was disrespectful and disloyal, two of Belle's biggest hates. I am now doubting Anton’s feelings for Belle and that makes me an unhappy dad! On the outside Belle would not tolerate that behaviour."

After meeting Anton, who looked petrified when Tamer rocked up in the villa, the actor told the Scot he wanted to "rip his head off" after watching episodes at home. "We’ll have ‘the’ chat later," Tamer warned him, giving him a stern look. As both families gathered at the fire pit, the actor said: "When she first went in and was like, 'Can I sleep in your bed?' I was like I'm going to rip his head off."

Tamer first started working on market stalls at an early age and started boxing when he was 10. He is best known for playing the leader of the Millwall firm, opposite Danny Dyer, in The Football Factory, which was released in 2004.
