Meghan Markle and Prince Harry DID photoshop image amid Kate Middleton Mother's Day scandal

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have previously Photoshopped family photographs, despite claims close to the couple stating they would never be caught out in a scandal like The Princess of Wales Kate Middleton.

Insiders close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have claimed the pair would have been "annihilated" if they'd been seen to have edited or doctored images, like those released on Mother's Day of Kate alongside her children George, Charlotte and Louis. The snap, which was shared on March 10 in celebration of Mother's Day, was the first official image of Kate since her surgery. It showed Kate and her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, happily smiling. Users online quickly claimed there are over a dozen issues with the initial upload, and it was later retracted.

The inside source, who is believed to be close to the Sussexes, claimed that Meghan would not have made a mistake like that because of her "freakish attention to detail". But it's been reported that Meghan and Harry did allow images of them, including their pregnancy announcement photo from 2021, to be digitally altered.

The source close to the Sussexes told Page Six: "If Harry and Meghan had ever encountered the same issue they would have been annihilated. The same rules do not apply to both couples. This isn’t a mistake that Meghan would ever make. She has a keen eye and freakish attention to detail."

Misan Harriman, an Oscar-nominated film director and photographer who captured the couple's pregnancy announcement in 2021, was reported to have admitted editing a picture Meghan and Harry shared to announce their pregnancy news with Lillibet. The image showed Harry and Meghan in black and white lying in their garden surrounded by trees as Meghan cradled her growing bump.

Appearing on the Private Passions podcast on BBC Radio 3, Harriman was asked by the host: "They weren’t actually under a willow tree, but they were lying outside in a meadow, weren’t they, Harry and Meghan, when you took the photograph of them?" In response he replied: "Hmm, yeah," before adding: "It really was a particularly joyous image to celebrate life itself." He then also said: "It's amazing what you can do with technology."

He's now hit out at reports he admitted to doctoring the photo with a video shared on Twitter. He said: "Hey, I've just got back to reality from the Oscars and unfortunately there's been an article on the Daily Mail saying that I have admitted to doctoring the pregnancy announcement portrait I took of Harry and Meghan. Apparently I was switching out trees and meadows and I admitted to this in an episode of a podcast called Private Passions.

"This is crazy. I was interviewed, I think it was in 2022, by a man called Berkeley on Private Passions and we were talking about the technology I used to shoot people during lockdown."

Misan then accused host Michael Berkeley of asking him "leading questions" in the interview. He said he often gets leading questions in regards to Harry and Meghan and usually tries to "swerve, ignore, try and get back on track and say what I'm there to say rather than any intrigue and gossip."

Addressing his fans, Misan continued: "So, how that exchange could amount to me admitting to doctoring an image is insidious and really dangerous journalism. Any mention of meadows and willow trees came out of the person doing the interview, not my mouth."

It's not the first time Meghan and Harry had to deal with Photoshop allegations of their own as the couple's 2019 Christmas card was firmly under the microscope at the time. Their festive photographer however denied the claims and showed the original image on her Instagram by way of proof. At the time, the photographer said alongside the image: "Proud to have taken the Christmas photo for one of my best friends and her family. Here's the original that was sent out (cropped to fit IG)....and to The Mail, I see your campaign against my friend continues. Nice photoshop of my non-photoshopped image. Now may we all get back to the spirit of Christmas and not the spirit of maliciousness."
