Meghan Markle has dodged being questioned under oath on the royal racist claims

Meghan Markle has seemingly dodged being questioned under oath about the royal racist claims after she successfully had her half-sister’s defamation case thrown out of court.

Back in December, it was reported that Meghan could have been forced to answer questions about the identity of the "royal racists" while under oath after her half-sister Samantha filed a defamation lawsuit against her. Samantha brought a defamation case against Meghan back in March 2022 where she accused Meghan and Harry's docuseries, of spreading "malicious, hurtful, and damaging lies", among other claims.

Samantha's lawyer, Peter Ticktin, claimed back in December that as part of the libel action, he would demand both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex submit to a deposition where they would have been interviewed under oath. But this has not happened due to the court case being thrown out.

If the court case had gone ahead before getting thrown out, both Meghan and Harry might have faced being questioned about the issue of which members of the Royal Family allegedly made remarks about the race of their unborn son, Archie, which was mentioned in their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Speculation grew when a Dutch version of Omid Scobie's book, Endgame, alleged that King Charles and the Princess of Wales were the two royals who raised 'concerns' about Archie's skin colour. And at the time, Samantha's lawyer Mr Ticktin said the issue "needed to be explored".

But as of today, Samantha's case is to be dismissed, with prejudice, meaning she cannot raise the claim again and Meghan will never have to give a deposition on the matter or address the royal race row.

Judge Honeywell wrote: "Defendant's (Meghan Markle) Motion to Dismiss for Failure to State a Claim is GRANTED. Plaintiff's (Samantha Markle) Defamation Claims (Count One) are DISMISSED WITH PREJUDICE. Plaintiff's Defamation-By-Implication Claims (Count Two) are also DISMISSED WITH PREJUDICE.

"The Clerk is directed to enter judgment in favour of Defendant, Meghan Markle (also known as Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex), terminate any pending motions, and CLOSE this case."
