Ryan Thomas' cheeky message to Greg Rutherford after Dancing On Ice win
Ryan Thomas took home the Dancing On Ice trophy this weekend after weeks of skating.
The Coronation Street star won the ITV skating show this weekend, beating Adele Roberts and Miles Nazire to the crown. Greg Rutherford had also made it to the final but he had to withdraw due to injury.
Ryan believes his win has everything to do with Greg, as he said his pal was his biggest competition. In his first interview since his win, Ryan and professional skating partner Amani opened up about what taking home the top prize meant to him.
Speaking on ITV show Lorraine today, Ryan revealed: "I became very close to Greg, we've both got similarities with kids and being away from home. If I'm honest, it would have been a tough call because the competition was so good. Greg was definitely competition. So if you're watching Greg, I'm not glad you went out but you're probably the reason I got the trophy!"
Ryan said he wanted to give the trophy to Greg as he "really deserved" to be in the final.
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tour"You know what, I really want to give this trophy to Greg. I don't know how he'll feel about putting a trophy on his mantlepiece with my name on it. I always wind him up all the time but I'm looking forward to seeing him and I'm gonna give this trophy to him because he really deserved to be in that final alongside Adele and Miles," he told Lorraine Kelly.
Greg was rushed to hospital after receiving an injury during final rehearsals and has been updating fans on his health. Alongside a recent selfie, Greg wrote: "Recovery sort of starts now ... after a pretty rough first night, I'm looking forward to getting everything sorted and sewn up so I can get back to normal. Thank you all so much for your kind messages."
He also shared a tribute to Ryan's win, adding: "So proud of [Ryan]. He's had his fair share of ups and downs during the process, so to come out winning is utterly spectacular. Well done brother, I'm glad I've got a friend for life in you."
Ryan dedicated his win to Greg in a sweet acceptance speech on the show. He said: "I'm speechless! I just can't ... it's Amani - I'm happy for her because she's put so much hard work in with me. Listen, Greg, if you're watching this at home... this trophy is for you, mate!"
