Colson Smith has been praised by Celebrity Big Brother viewers for being so open about his weight loss battle.

The actor, 25, who plays PC Craig Tinker in Coronation Street, has lost 10 stone since the country's first lockdown. However, he admitted he would binge eat after 'starving himself for a day and half' in a candid confession on Monday's show.

Lifting the lid on his eating habits with Sharon Osbourne, 71, who has admitted to using drug Ozempic to lose weight, he said: "I lost weight when I was 18 through quite a strict diet and what I found was that I was gaining weight and then I’d try and diet again. I wouldn’t eat for a day and a half I would just starve myself, and then I’d be that hungry."

"The floodgates would burst," Sharon added. Colson nodded, admitting: "I used to drive to KFC and I used to order three meals and then I would hate myself so I wouldn’t eat again for a day and a half and it would be that for months and months and months."

Sharon, who confessed she had lost "too much" weight using Ozempic, said: "A rollercoaster. You know people who don’t have to worry about their weight, they have no idea how hard it is… it’s a killer."

Praising his girlfriend for supporting him, Colson concluded: "I am glad that I’ve done what I’ve done the way I’ve done it, and I’ve the level of control that I got with it because I have a discipline and I also understand myself."

His candid chat with Mrs O was warmly received by viewers, who praised the soap star for his honesty. "It’s unusual to hear a man speaking about an eating disorder or struggling with a food addiction, kudos to Colson for sharing his story," a fan wrote on X. Another said: "Colson is just an amazing light isn’t he," while a third commented: "Colson talking about his weight and eating issues is so important. It’s great that he has felt comfortable enough to open up about his struggles."

The actor spoke about the moment he decided to overhaul his lifestyle back in 2022. Explaining the affect the lockdown due to Covid had on him, he told the Liverpool Echo: "I made changes before the lockdown but when it hit, all work stopped and it's the first time ever that Corrie has actually stopped. I was in a flat in Media City and I went back to live with my parents.

"It was the first time since I was 12 years old that I didn't have a job and didn't have anything to do so I kind of thought to myself 'what's important to me' and 'what do I want from life'. That's kind of where I decided to put myself forward and start this fitness journey."

Celebrity Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
