Emmerdale heartbreak is in store for Aaron Dingle on the soap next week as he gets devastating news.

Aaron - played by Danny Miller - has been struggling after finding out that his mum Chas Dingle has breast cancer. Knowing her mum Faith died from cancer, Chas has been adamant she wants to do all she can to protect herself and her family and decided to have a double mastectomy to reduce her risk even further after getting a diagnosis.

She has been imploring her siblings Cain Dingle and Caleb Miligan to do the same, as well as her son Aaron Dingle, and next week on the ITV soap, they all get their results and rush to open them at their respective houses.

Moira is relieved when Cain tests negative for the faulty BRCA2 gene, whilst Caleb is also relieved to get a negative test. That means that Nicky is in the clear too, leaving all three of them thrilled.

However, upstairs in the flat above, Aaron opens his letter and finds out he has inherited the faulty BRCA2 gene from his mum. Chas is relieved to hear that both Cain and Caleb are negative but Aaron lies and says he's negative too.

Chas is emotional and relieved by the news, but Aaron feels guilty as he realises how much it means to her. Aaron keeps his news a secret the next day too, and pretends he's nonchalant about it all when Chas expresses her relief.

Lucy Pargeter, who plays Chas, previously opened up about the responsibility of taking on such a big storyline. She said: "It's a huge responsibility to take on. I remember last year, I had a meeting upstairs and Jane, who was our producer at the time, approached me and said we've got this coming up for you next year. I think the first thing you think is I want to, and I hope I can, do justice for the people who are actually suffering with breast cancer and all their families that are going through supporting them. So yeah, it was daunting. It was a massive responsibility, but hopefully, I'm doing it justice."

She revealed she has received huge levels of support since fronting the storyline. She explained: "I've had a lot of responses online, which has been amazing. For the first time in a while it's been quite positive. So yeah, I've had a lot of women reaching out to me saying you know, ‘I'm going through this myself or I have a family member that's going through this’, and that a lot of people can't watch the hospital scenes because it's quite triggering. But, a lot of people are just enjoying the quiet moments when she's on her own and when she's kind of like taking a breath. It's all those things that hit you personally that you don't show other people in your family. It’s the emotions behind the front that sometimes you can put on. So yeah, I've had a lot of beautiful, beautiful women reaching out and thanking me for kind of showing those little moments."
