Emma Stone didn't seem too excited when Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel made a joke about her nominated film, 'Poor Things', on Sunday.

The host poked fun at the sexually explicit comedy-drama after a few clips from it were played during the Oscars ceremony. He said: "Those were all the parts of Poor Things we're allowed to show on TV." After his joke, the camera cut out to the actress who was sitting in the audience and seemed annoyed at the comment. She said something that some observers on social media guessed to be the word "p***k" but according to a lip reader, this was not the case.

Expert Jeremy Freeman told The Mirror that the actress didn't actually use the word "p***k" but said something along the lines of "shouldn't be here" - which is very different from what has been alleged.

The most closely watched contest of the Academy Awards went to Emma Stone, who won Best Actress for her performance as Bella Baxter in 'Poor Things', winning over Lily Gladstone of 'Killers of the Flower Moon'. As she accepted the award, Emma revealed she was battling a wardrobe malfunction as she walked up on stage to collect her Best Actress Oscar. She said: "My dress is broken, I think it happened during I'm Just Ken."

She appeared visibly overwhelmed and wept as she said: "I don't know what I'm saying." She added: "The other night I was panicking, as you can see it happens a lot, that something like this could happen.

"I am so deeply honoured to share this with every cast member with every crew member who poured their love and care and their brilliance into the making of this film." After thanking her family, she saved her final thanks for "my daughter, who is going to be three in three days and who turned our whole lives technicolour". She added: "I love you bigger than the whole sky my girl." Before exiting the stage, she said: "Don't look at the back of my dress."

The speech was out of the norm for Emma, who is known for keeping her personal life out of the spotlight. She and her husband Dave quietly welcomed their baby girl in March 2021, after keeping their pregnancy pretty under wraps - and did not reveal the name of their newborn for another nine months.

Emma and Dave first sparked dating rumours in October 2017, after reportedly meeting on the set of Saturday Night Live, where Dave was a segment director. The couple even kept their nuptials super low-key, marrying in a secret wedding in September 2020.
