Emma Stone in sweet tribute to her rarely-seen daughter Louise in Oscars speech
Emma Stone gave a touching shout-out to her baby daughter during her Oscars acceptance speech.
The 35-year-old actress took to the stage after bagging her second Oscar at the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday night. Emma won Best Actress for her role in highly-nominated Poor Things - beating fellow stars Lily Gladstone (Killer of the Flower Moon), Annette Bening (Nyad), Carey Mulligan (Maestro), and Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall).
As the Easy A star walked up on stage to accept the award, she hilariously confessed she had suffered an embarrassing wardrobe mishap. Seemingly unphased and determined that the show must go on, Emma continued with a heartfelt acceptance speech, in which she cried as she thanked her husband Dave McCary along with their two-year-old daughter Louise for turning their lives “technicolour”.
Through tears, Emma gushed: “I really just want to thank my family - my mum, my brother Spencer, my dad, my husband Dave. I love you so much. And most importantly, my daughter, who’s going to be three in three days, who has turned our lives technicolour.”
Serena Williams finally breaks silence on Will Smith Oscar slap one year onSpeaking directly to her toddler, the Cruella actress added: “I love you bigger than the whole sky my girl, so thank you so much.” The speech was out of the norm for Emma, who is known for keeping her personal life out of the spotlight. She and Dave quietly welcomed their baby girl in March 2021, after keeping their pregnancy pretty under wraps - and did not reveal the name of their newborn for another nine months.
Emma and Dave first sparked dating rumours in October 2017, after reportedly meeting on the set of Saturday Night Live, where Dave was a segment director. The couple even kept their nuptials super low-key, marrying in a secret wedding in September 2020.
But all eyes were on Emma on Sunday night. The actress wore a stunning mint green strapless gown with a Louis Vitton bodice, paired with a dazzling diamond choker necklace. As she walked on stage she revealed to the audience that the zipper on her dress had just broken, turning her back to show the style mishap. But the Hollywood star, who won her first Oscar for her role in LaLa Land in 2017, took the wardrobe malfunction in her stride, joking: "My dress is broken, I think it happened during I’m Just Ken.”
