Piers Morgan reckons Kate's "editing" apology won't stop the conspiracies surrounding her after she released a photo of herself on Mother's Day.

The Princess of Wales, 42, released a family photo, which included George, Charlotte and Louis on Sunday, only for it to be "killed" shortly afterwards because it appeared to be manipulated. The picture has sparked a flurry of social media speculation as eagle-eyed fans noticed Prince George's sleeve was out of focus and Princess Charlotte's arm didn't line up.

Kate has now revealed she edited the portrait and has apologised "for any confusion the family photograph caused". However, Piers thinks her statement is adding more fuel to the fire as people wonder exactly what has happened to the future Queen after her 'planned abdominal surgery'. Following Kate's apology, he took to X, saying: "OK, but the only way to quell the conspiracy theories is to release the original pic…"

Last night, several of the world's biggest international photo agencies said the photograph issued of Kate and her three children had been "manipulated". The Associated Press (AP) Reuters, Agence France-Presse (AFP) and Getty Images all separately issued a "kill notice" to media organisations around the globe, confirming they had each deleted the image from their individual libraries - and today the Press Association followed suit until it had further information from Kensington Palace.

This morning in a rare personal post on X, signed C denoting it was from Kate, the princess admitted: "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother's Day. C"

Meanwhile, a palace source added: "The Princess has shared a statement on social media. This was an amateur, family photograph taken by the Prince of Wales. Their royal highnesses wanted to offer an informal picture of the family together for Mother's Day. The Princess made minor adjustments as she shared in her statement on social media. The Wales family spent Mother’s Day together and had a wonderful day."

The apology comes after Piers urged Kensington Palace to release the unedited photo of Princess Kate and her children "asap" as he issued a worrying warning if they choose otherwise.

Piers took to X this morning and wrote: "The Palace should release the unedited photo of Kate & the kids asap. If it’s just a small bit of harmless retouching gone wrong, nobody will care. If they don’t release the original pic, the conspiracy theories they were trying to kill, will get way worse."
