Oppenheimer wins at Oscars but fans distracted by huge Pacino gaffe
Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan, won the Best Picture award at the 96th annual Academy Awards. However, Al Pacino 's odd introduction of the winner left fans puzzled.
During the awkward on-stage moment, Pacino did not bother to name the other nominees for thew award. Instead he went straight to the big reveal, saying: "Best Picture...uh, I have to go to the envelope for that. And I will. Here it comes. And my eyes see Oppenheimer?" Despite this, film producer Emma Thomas and director Nolan went on stage to accept the award and gave a heartfelt speech.
Fans shared their thoughts about Pacino's presentation on X, previously known as Twitter. One viewer said: "I'm obsessed with the way Al Pacino announced Oppenheimer as Best Picture. couldn't have been more chaotic or confusing lol." Another commented: "Did a crappy job! Did not even introduce the nominees." A third added: "That was so awkward lmaoooo."

But to know that you think I'm a meaningful part of it means the world to me." He ended his speech by thanking those who have supported him throughout his career including a heartfelt shoutout to his wife Emma who produced the movie.

Al Pacino's gaffe wasn't the only surprising moment of the night, as fans and Emma Stone herself were gobsmacked that she won the award for Best Actress. The star won her second Academy Award for her role as Bella Baxter in Poor Things.
Emma also suffered a slight wardrobe malfunction before accepting her award. She joked as she reached the stage: "My dress is broken, I think it happened during I’m Just Ken."

The Ryan Gosling led Barbie song was up for Best Original Song, with the award going to What Was I Made For? by BIllie Eilish from the same film. Ryan's performance of the song at the award show took social media by storm as the actor performed the song with Guns N Roses guitarist Slash.
While Emma took home Best Actress, the Best Actor award went to Cillian Murphy for his role as J Robert Oppenheimer in the biopic Oppenheimer. He thanked Christopher Nolan in his speech and said: "It's been the wildest, most exhilarating, most creatively satisfying journey you've taken me on over the last 20 years. I owe you more than I can say."
He continued: "Thank you so much [to] every single crew member, every single cast member, on Oppenheimer; you guys carried me through. All my fellow nominees, I remain in awe of you guys. Truly."

The wrestler and actor shimmied awkwardly on stage as part of a bit, only keeping the envelope containing the winner covering his private area.
The Best Picture award, the most important prize of the night, was up for grabs at the Oscars. This award is a big deal as it's given to the film that the academy's voters think was the best in 2023. Barbenheimer was once again in the running for this award, after both films had a successful opening weekend and became two of the biggest hits of the year.
Other films that were nominated included Barbie, Killers of the Flower Moon, Poor Things, American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers, Maestro, Past Lives, and The Zone of Interest. For the first time ever, three of the films were directed by women - Barbie, Anatomy of a Fall, and Past Lives.

Robert Oppenheimer, played by Cillian Murphy, who worked on the Manhattan Project to create the bomb and shows the terrible effects he suffered after seeing the world's first nuclear explosion.

The movie tells the story of the well-known doll Barbie, played by Margot Robbie, and Ken, played by Ryan Gosling. They have lots of fun in the perfect world of Barbie Land. At the Oscars, Ryan also gave an amazing performance of the popular song I'm Just Ken from the film's soundtrack.
