Jimmy Kimmel mocks Robert Downey Jr's 'rectangular' penis in Oscars monologue
Some comedians believe penis jokes never fail - but this time it landed a bit flat when Jimmy Kimmel made Robert Downey Jr. the butt of the joke.
The late-night talk show host poked fun at various celebrities in his opening monologue at the Academy Awards. His jokes ranged from slamming the Academy for not nominating Greta Gerwig for Best Director for her film Barbie to Robert Downey Jr.'s apparently awkwardly-shaped appendage.
"Look at him, he’s so handsome, so talented, he’s won every award there is to win. Is that an acceptance speech in your pocket or do you just have a very rectangular penis?" Jimmy said as the camera panned to the actor making faces at the camera.

Robert is known for his dry humour and can usually take a joke, and while he tried being a good sport about it, the look on his face told a different story. Jimmy also made a jab at Robert's past drug use, at first saying the Oppenheimer actor was at "one of the highest points of his career."

Fans at home also thought the jokes from the four-time Oscars host weren't that great. "Wow. Someone actually wrote that 'joke,'" one fan wrote on Twitter.
"Terrible jokes about Christopher Nolan & Robert Downey Jr by Jimmy Kimmel. Yikes #Oscars," another added.
Robert is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Oppenheimer as Lewis Strauss. He's up against Robert De Niro, Sterling K. Brown, Ryan Gosling, and Mark Ruffalo but is predicted to win the category.
This is Robert's third nomination at the Academy Awards. He previously was up for Best Actor in Chaplin and Best Supporting Actor in Tropic Thunder.
Christopher Nolan’s epic Oppenheimer landed the most nominations this year, with a whopping 13 nods, including Best Actor, Best Director and Best Cinematography. Yorgos Lanthimos’s offbeat comedy Poor Things, starring Emma Stone, who was odds-on favourite to win the Best Actress award, is a close second with 11 nominations, while legendary director Martin Scorsese’s historical epic Killers of the Flower Moon has 10 nominations.
The Oscars has courted controversy even before the ceremony aired, after last year’s blockbuster Barbie was snubbed in most of the major categories. Margot Robbie missed out on an acting nod, while director Greta Gerwig was overlooked in the Best Director category, with just one other woman nominated - Justine Triet for Anatomy of a Fall.
