Helen Flanagan astounds The Weakest Link viewers with 'sensational' answer
Helen Flanagan surprised fans with an answer that she gave on an episode of The Weakest Link that aired on Saturday, before sharing that she'd found the experience "terrifying".
The latest episode of the BBC quiz show saw host Romesh Ranganathan test the knowledge of eight celebrities, who competed to win money for charity. Helen, 33, was among those who took part but she didn't make it past the first round. The actor - who is best known for playing Rosie Webster on Coronation Street - attracted attention over her answer to the first question that she was asked by the host. It was about the landmark the White Cliffs of Dover in Kent.
Romesh asked her: "In geology, the White Cliffs of Dover are principally formed of what substance - chalk or cheese?" After a brief hesitation, she replied: "Cheese." The host subsequently revealed that she had answered incorrectly. Helen passed on her next two questions, which were about music and chemistry respectively. She was subsequently voted "the weakest link" by the seven other contestants, becoming the first to be eliminated on the latest episode.
Ahead of her departure, Helen said: "It's quite terrifying actually the pressure and you've got to think so quick." She added: "I have had fun [though]. I wanted to stay longer. I actually did try but I was just really out of my depth." Prompting laughter from her, Romesh teased: "Yeah, I don't think you should ... I think we'll take that out that you tried." Before moving on to the second round, he said: "We've really enjoyed the three minutes you've been with us."
Following her elimination, she said: "D'you know what it was? It was the pressure. And to be fair, I think I got really difficult questions." Discussing her "cheese" answer, she laughed: "All I heard was 'Dover'. And I thought 'Dover - like kind of Cornwall kind of thing. And Cornish' so I just went 'cheese'."

Someone else tweeted: "That really is an unbelievable answer." A third viewer said: "Good grief." Whilst another person reacted to the scene: "Just spat my coffee out." A fifth person wrote on the platform: "For Christ's sake." "This really was mind blowing television last night," someone else tweeted. Another person said it was "sensational."
