There was chaos in the BBC Breakfast studio on Saturday morning when Gladiators Fire and Steel decided to gets hands on with the presenters as they showed off their muscular strength.

The breakfast news show was featuring Gladiators stars Fire, whose real name is Montell Douglas, and Steel, who is Zack George, when they muscular guests went rogue and carried weatherman Simon King out of the studio as their biceps bulged. The moment was set up by presenter Charlie Stayt, who commented about the weatherman, prompting the Gladiators to take action.

Charlie said: "Simon has been struggling with the logistics of how to get on and off the studio floor today. Can you help him out?" With that, Fire and Steel hoisted Simon into the air by his arms and legs and whisked him off shot, with the weatherman loving the moment, smiling widely as he is carried out.

After Simon waved goodbye to his colleagues, Fire and Steel returned to the sofa to speak to Charlie and co-host Naga Munchetty. Liking the show of strength, Naga joked that this had made Simon's year, while Charlie was a little more concerned, asking: "What have you done with Simon? Is he OK?"

Gladiator Steel replied: "We just left him in the corner, if that's all right?" Naga then added jokingly: "Crying... Do you know what? That will be the highlight of his year."

This comes after there was disappointment among fans of the BBC reboot of Gladiators with the second semi-final of the show being pulled from the schedule in a late shake-up of Saturday evening viewing. The episode is believed to have been rescheduled from next week due to the FA Cup. The broadcaster is covering the quarter-final between Manchester City and Newcastle United and is due to be on screen from 5.10pm to 7.40pm, which takes over the Gladiator's usual slot.

According to the current schedule, Michael McIntyre's The Wheel will air immediately after the football coverage. The host will to be joined by comedian Katherine Ryan, Asim Chaudhry, Vanessa Feltz, Steve Pemberton, Kate Garraway, Ainsley Harriott and Phil Tufnell during next week's episode. The show returned for its reboot in January this year and is hosted by Bradley Walsh and his son Barney.
