Finding out your partner has cheated on you is something no one wants to ever experience - but finding out it was with a member of your family is even worse.

One woman was heartbroken when she found out her husband had been secretly cheating on her with her cousin - but claimed she got her "perfect revenge" on the pair.

The wife knew if she held off for a few months, despite wanting to kick him out straight away, it would have a maximum impact on her husband and her cousin, leaving them in a financial mess, so she left it for six months before she took any action.

She found out her husband and her "beautiful" cousin started having an affair a few months after they had met at a wedding as they were both "stupid". The cheating hubby is now "begging" for her back, and the cousin has been "shunned" by the family, but now the scorned woman is feeling a little guilty for leaving the pair in a mess.

Explaining her situation, the wife took to Reddit anonymously and wrote: "My grandparents give each of their grandkids enough to buy a house when we graduate from college. We have to get through college on our own. I was lucky enough to qualify for a scholarship as well as a bursary through my father's employer. When I graduated I bought a small house close to public transportation so I could take the train to work."

She stated that her husband then met her cousin Yvonne at a wedding and said she was "beautiful", but the pair started an affair three months later. "I was hurt. But more than that I was furious. I wanted to kick him out immediately and divorce him."

She revealed how she saw all of his texts as they would show up on their tablet before he deleted them, so she had screenshots of it all. However, she decided to wait a few months to confront the pair.

The woman continued: "Instead I waited almost six more months. A month before she graduated from university I went to my grandparents and broke down. I told them that I just found out about the cheating and that I was shattered that my own family would do that to me. I stayed with them for a couple of weeks.

"My husband tried to get to me but I didn't talk to him. My grandmother helped me get a lawyer for the divorce during this time." The woman explained that her house was a "premarital asset" and was covered by her prenup, so she gave her husband a month to move out.

"My grandparents are old school about marriage and family. They are beyond p***ed. They said that they couldn't fix what she did but they could make their displeasure clear. They gave me her money. She had taken out student loans since she knew she could pay them back. She also chose a degree that was not exactly in the STEM areas so she will not be making a great salary coming out of school," she revealed in the explosive post.

"My ex is begging me to let him stay because he loves me. I said that he would not sleep with other women if he loved me. I know he doesn't. He just did the math and found out how f***ed he is."

Because she left her cousin in a financial mess, her aunt and uncle are angry with her for "screwing their baby out of so much money" but the woman defended herself and said she had no intention to take the money, but jibed it was "just frosting on the cake".

She added how pleased she is that it's all over and her husband has moved out and they are getting a divorce, but she admitted she feels guilty for not "confronting them immediately" and bringing their grandparents into it."

"So I guess I'm asking if I went too far and whether that makes me the only asshole in this situation." In true Reddit form, people flocked to the comments to weigh in with their thoughts.

"She knew she was doing wrong and she should have known there might be consequences. She ain't a kid anymore, she is responsible for her own actions," one user wrote.

While another added: "They knew exactly what they were doing. If the cousin didn't account for the potential consequences, it's on her! Not just the money thing, but the rest of it. She KNEW that her family would judge her. It's her cousin's husband for heaven's sake!"
