Jerry Jeudy traded to Cleveland Browns as Denver Broncos give up on WR
The Denver Broncos have traded star receiver Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns, marking another big change for the team.
The Broncos swapped Jeudy for fifth and sixth-round draft picks, showing they're ready to move on from their starting wide receiver. Jeudy, a former first-round pick from Alabama, was once seen as a game-changer.
The 17th overall pick in the 2020 draft was picked ahead of CeeDee Lamb, who is now an All-Pro wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys. But the Broncos have let him go for just day three draft picks as they look to rebuild their roster.
This comes after the Broncos released Russell Wilson, just two years into his five-year, $242million (£188.2m) contract. They had acquired the quarterback from the Seattle Seahawks in a mega-trade.

It seems the Broncos are trying to rebuild their team after another tough season. Head coach Sean Payton is looking to get more draft picks by letting go of Jeudy. The Browns will be adding Jeudy to their impressive list of receivers, which includes Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore, Cedric Tillman, David Bell and David Njoku.
Jeudy, 24, is in the last year of his rookie deal. The Browns will likely let him play out his contract before deciding whether to extend it. He had a decent, but not outstanding, season in 2023.

Jeudy hasn't managed to gather over 1,000 yards in a season, with just 11 touchdowns in his four years in the league. But he's still one of the best at running routes in the NFL, and could benefit from being used in a new offensive system under the talented playcaller Kevin Stefanski.
Even though Denver have made some room in their salary cap by letting go of Jeudy and Wilson, the Broncos only have $30m (£23.3m) left to sign players - not the $70-80m (£54.4-£62.2m) they might have had in different circumstances. That's because letting Wilson go comes with a huge $35m (£27.2m) dead cap hit this season, with another $50m (£38.9m) in 2025 which they can't spend and must pay the quarterback.
The Broncos are now sure to look for a quarterback in the NFL Draft, with Michigan's National Championship winner JJ McCarthy often predicted to be picked by Denver in the first-round. The Broncos probably won't get the chance to pick Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels, but could choose between McCarthy, Michael Penix Jr and Bo Nix on April 25.
