Liverpool finally won the Premier League title after a long wait. It was clear that they had the momentum as they narrowly beat City on a tense afternoon at Anfield.
Fabinho scored an early goal for the hosts while City were upset about a penalty not given at the other end just seconds before. Salah added to City's woes by scoring a second goal soon after and Mane got a third. However, Silva kept City in the game and Guardiola was angry when another penalty appeal was turned down.
April 2022: Man City 2-2 Liverpool
In a nail-biting title race, the rivals had to settle for a draw at Etihad Stadium. City had the most opportunities and took the lead twice thanks to De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus.
However, Liverpool fought back each time with goals from Diogo Jota and Mane. City were left frustrated when Raheem Sterling's goal was disallowed after a close VAR decision and Riyad Mahrez hit the post. But in the end, Guardiola's team had the last laugh, clinching the title by just one point.
