Former Coronation Street favourite Ryan Thomas discussed making the Dancing On Ice 2024 final

Dancing On Ice's Ryan Thomas confessed he's found the series "hard", as he looks forward to the final this weekend.

The former Coronation Street actor joked he might have turned the show down if he'd realised how hard it would be on him and his body. With months of training and then months on the show too, Ryan admitted he has put his body through a lot to make it to the final.

While he is thankful for the love and support from viewers and those working on the show, Ryan revealed he's struggled massively due to injuries and the toll training on the ice rink has taken on him. Admitting to struggling to sleep and even train due to an injury as he edges closer towards the final skate, Ryan confessed that had he known how hard it was going to be he may have missed out.

He now plans to take a big break from the ice rink, giving his body the rest it needs once Sunday's final is out the way. Speaking to The Mirror and other press, he told us: "If I'd known how hard it was I may not have done it!"

Praising the cast, crew and the viewers, he went on: "But you know what it's what goes on behind the scenes, the people are so lovely from the judges to the coaches, to the pros. They are a good, solid bunch.

"I love people, and they've made this experience amazing for me. It's just bloody hard work. It caught me off-guard. I feel like I have done so many shows and challenges.

"I thought this was another one but this one has been a bit of a beast. It caught me off-guard, it's the hardest challenge to date. I can at least look back and say I got to the final."

On the toll on his body, he said: "My body is really starting to struggle now. I've got pain that won't go away anymore." He added: "It just takes a toll on you. It's a lot for your body to take.

"We've been doing this since October, we've been training for a long time now, it's really hard." On if he will stick to skating immediately after the show ends, he joked: "No, no, only if I have to."

On his gratitude to the viewers at home and those in the audience, he said: "It's very humbling and it's probably the one thing I have enjoyed the most with the show, the public support. When I fell over the audience cheered me on and then I fell over again, and they really got behind me.

"That's the reason I got up and carried on the routine. To me it's important that we look after people, when people are down we pick them back up. That's what the audience did for me and everyone at home showed a lot of support."
