It's no secret that buying the latest tech gadget will set you back hundreds of pounds, and close to thousands if you have one of the big named brands on your lists. As a regular gym-goer and commuter, I've always been into sound-spoofing headphones with pairs from Apple, Samsung and Google pinned to my wishlist, but I can never justify the price.

And that's exactly how I came across my tried and trusted pair from Amazon, with Bluetooth, ENC noise reduction, an LED power display and an impressive 36-hour use on one single charge. Having used the pair for more than a year, it's hard to believe they cost me a fraction of the price compared to the latest pair from Apple or Samsung.

  • Ditch AirPods and buy wireless Bluetooth headphones for £20 - BUY HERE

The Bluetooth headphones are currently in the sale at Amazon, reduced from the usual £49.99 price to £24.99 but you can get them for a little cheaper. If you're a Prime member you'll get an extra discount and can pick up the pair for £19.99 - if you're not signed up as a member you can get one month for free if you sign up today.

Fitted with the latest Bluetooth 5.3 you can connect to a smartphone easily, and once you've done it the first time that's it. After that, each time you flip open the case the pair automatically connect to your phone whether you want to stream music, listen to a podcast, make a call or simply mute out the sound around you.

The LED charging display lets you control the charge level of the headset on the go and see the different battery life of each earbud, a feature not seen on more expensive models that I personally think is heavily slept on. Instead of having to guess from random beeps how much longer you have left to use headphone you can simply see it.

The Btootos A90 True Wireless Earbuds are a perfect pair everyday wear and proof that you don't to drop hundreds of pounds to get quality - as I've learnt to do with my five crucial steps. If you want to save yourself extra pennies at the till on these £20 headphones, and more, follow my three tried and tested steps.

Tech fan's tips to finding cheaper products:

First up, search for the function not the brand. If you're looking to cut the price search for what you want your device to achieve online and not a brand. For instance on Currys look for 'wireless headphones' where some of the first options are £38.99 pairs from more affordable brands like JBL, with very similar functions (when it comes to noise reduction and charging) to the £200+ models from Apple.

Number two, always check the reviews of products. This is particularly crucial if you're searching for a version of a higher-end brand, maybe it's a fraction of the price but looks very similar or claims to have the same qualities. A rule of thumb though, if it feels too good to be true walk away from the checkout.

And finally tip number three, waiting until months after a new product launch will save you hundreds of pounds. Use this tip if you're set on buying say, for example, the latest product from Samsung. You could apply this strategy right now over at the Samsung store if you're in dire need of a new phone, the S24 is £100 compared to its two-month old launch price.
