Carol Vorderman explains why she really dropped Michelle Mone as a friend
Carol Vorderman revealed she dropped Michelle Mone as a friend because of 'how much she lied.'
The Countdown star, 63, and the former Tory peer, 52, previously enjoyed luxury nights out together but the friendship hit the rocks amid Michelle's alleged involvement in awarding of government PPE contracts. Carol appeared on Good Morning Britain and discussed what happened with their friendship.
"I knew her many years ago for about 18 months and dropped her as a friend because I realised just how much she lied," she said to host Adil Ray. "This was way before she went into the political arena and we all know what happened there." Adil interrupted to say that Michelle has 'denied any allegations of corruption.'
Carol then continued: "Yes of corruption but she's admitted obviously that her husband ran the PPE Medpro. That's really where it started." The TV star has been known to call out Michelle on social media in recent months.
The duo had many nights out together before Michelle tied the knot with billionaire Doug Barrowman.

The government awarded PPE Medpro a £200 million contract in May 2020 to produce medical gowns which were later alleged to not have been of 'correct quality standards and specification'.
The businesswoman 'completely refutes' allegations of wrongdoing on her part or that of her husband Douglas Barrowman, who was a director of PPE Medpro. Last month, it was revealed that assets controlled by Michelle and her husband had been frozen under a court order obtained by the Crown Prosecution Service.
PPE Medro, a company led by Mr Barrowman, is under investigation by authorities. PPE Medro is also being sued by the Department for Health and Social Care. Restrictions were placed on over £75million worth of assets, including their Belgravia townhouse, homes in Glasgow an estate on the Isle of Man and a few bank accounts.
Last year, Carol slammed Michelle during a This Morning appearance. She said: "I cannot talk about useless PPE without also talking about Michelle Mone who was brought into the House of Lords, as a baroness, by David Cameron. We know she has taken leave of absence without losing the Tory whip to start with because she was actively involved, as it goes, with a company called PPE Medpro."
Carol continued: "Now Michelle Mone, I knew, many years ago and then dropped her like a stone as soon as I realised what kind of person she was," before looking at the camera and commenting: "Sue me, Michelle." Host Alison Hammond was quick to attempt to shut Carol down, explaining that Michelle wasn't able to defend herself against the comments.
