Princess Charlotte has a favourite tune to dance to - and five-year-old Prince Louis likes to join in.

In his appearance on the Apple Fitness + podcast Time to Walk, Prince William spoke about his eight-year-old daughter's musical taste - and offered an intriguing glimpse into the home life of his three children. Charlotte's song of choice is not a current chart-topper but was in fact released in 2010, almost five years before she was born.

The Prince of Wales revealed: "One of the songs that the children are loving at the moment is Shakira, Waka Waka. There's a lot of hip movements going along. There's a lot of dressing up.

He added: "Charlotte, particularly, is running around the kitchen in her dresses and ballet stuff and everything. She goes completely crazy with [Prince] Louis following her around trying to do the same thing."

William also shared that his two eldest kids - George and Charlotte - sometimes disagree over "what song is played in the morning", leaving him to play the role of mediator. He said: "And I have to, now, basically prioritise that one day someone does this one and another day it's someone else's turn. So George gets his go, and then Charlotte gets her go. Such is the clamour for the music. What I've been amazed by is how much my children already have inherited my family's love of music."

Princess Charlotte, who will celebrate her ninth birthday in May, also enjoys playing many sports, from hockey to netball. At school, she has excellent access to all-weather surface cricket, football, netball, and hockey pitches. The princess, and her brothers Prince George and Prince Louis, are all students at Lambrook School in Berkshire. The three children all take after their parents William and Kate in the sporting department, especially their mother who was a keen sports player at school. As a student at Marlborough College, Kate played on the hockey team and to this day loves taking part in activities during engagements when she can.

The Prince and Princess of Wales' three children tend to be kept out of the spotlight, though they have been spotted at some major royal ceremonies. Charlotte and George attended their first major church event for the Duke of Edinburgh's memorial service at Westminster Abbey and also attended Elizabeth II's state funeral in 2022.
