Celebrity Big Brother fans are fearing for some of the contestants after numerous stars broke down in tears on the third day.

Tensions were high in scenes that aired on the ITV show on Thursday night as the celebs took to the diary room to vote for the first time. But the task proved to be almost too much for 65-year-old musician and businessman Levi Roots and for 38-year-old West End star Marisha Wallace as they were forced to nominate fellow celebs to face the public vote.

Levi struggled to think of reasons to nominate two fellow contestants knowing that they could then face the chop at the public vote. He ultimately settled on Ibiza Weekender star David Potts, 30, as they had clashed over cooking arrangements and outspoken TV presenter Zeze Millz, 34, as he feared she could be too argumentative.

After giving his reasons, he asked to remain in the diary room for a moment - during which time he covered his face and broke down in tears. He was visibly shaken when he returned to the main room to rejoin the other housemates - who picked up on his emotions and comforted him. Later, Marisha voted for David as one of her nominations and also picked Real Housewives star Lauren Simon, 51, as one of her nominations saying she felt she was too “privileged”. But her decisions were heavy on her mind, and the stage performer ended up shedding tears over her choices.

Viewers watching at home were shocked to see two of the contestants crying while giving their nominations - and took to X to express concern for them. After Levi broke into tears, one fan wrote: "Why’s he crying? This ain’t the hunger games they not gonna die #cbbuk." And another typed: "Why is Levi having a breakdown right now? It’s been 3 days #CBBUK."

After seeing Marisha also crying, many viewers questioned why there were such high emotions so soon into the experiment. One typed: "I was in there for 3 days and had to nominate I’d seal mine with a kiss and not be crying about it."

Another wrote: "Why are these housemates crying for?! #CBBUK." And another asked: "No cos why is everyone crying. You have known me three days like chill." And yet another fan wrote in disbelief: "What is with all the tears over these nominations? Like yous have known each other for 5 minutes."

But there were more tears as the show continued. Big Brother announced that Lauren had received the most votes and would face the public vote alongside businessman Gary Goldsmith, 58 - who was already up for elimination. She struggled to cope with the news and ran to the bathroom to shed tears. She later admitted to Big Brother in the diary room that she was struggling to cope with the knowledge that more than one person in the group would have voted for her and she was agonising over who it could have been.

Meanwhile, Heartstopper actor Bradley Riches, 22, also broke down into tears during the course of the episode. He opened up to Marisha about a book he had written which he was able to use to write about his own experience being autistic. He cried and said: “I’m having so much fun.” Marisha comforted him and: “You’re doing everything right and you’re being yourself and it’s beautiful.”
