It’s one of life’s perennial problems - what to wear to the Cheltenham Festival.

Faced with the same conundrum, ex-jockey and ITV Racing pundit Mick Fitzgerald has asked his followers to decide.

In the saddle, Fitzgerald was stable jockey to Nicky Henderson and rode the winners of the Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Out of the saddle he has carved out a second career as a regular on both ITV Racing and Sky Sports Racing.

He would be the first to admit that fashion is not one of his specialisms and when offered the pick of two three-piece suits by House Of Cavani for the biggest week of jumps racing, FitzGerald couldn’t make his mind up.

Fitzgerald explained he had first linked up with the menswear brand when he went to the Grand National without a suit.

“Two years ago on Grand National day I forgot my suit,” he said. “Chris Hughes, who was working for ITV and was sponsored by them, said they would send me a suit and he would sort it. Amazingly a suit arrived.”

Fitzgerald, who will be working all four days of the Festival for ITV, added: “This year I wanted a suit for Gold Cup day and Luke from House Of Cavani gave me a choice.

“I’m never that good a judge of clothes, am I? So I have asked the good people of X or Twitter to choose and whichever gets the most votes will be the one I will wear.”
