Piers Morgan has revealed his son Stanley's latest role in a surprise career move.

The controversial broadcaster shares three sons with his ex wife Marion Shalloe - 30-year-old Spencer, 26-year-old Stanley and 23-year-old Albert. Spencer and Stanley have tip toed into the spotlight behind their famous dad while Albert and Piers' daughter Elsie have stayed out of the spotlight.

However, it appears Stanley is keen to pursue his career as an actor as he's signed up for a huge new show. Stanley is set to star in period drama Serpent Queen, which tells the story of Catherine de Medici who, against all odds, became one of the most powerful and longest-serving rulers in French history.

Catherine is played by Samantha Morton, while season two of the show will see a bunch of new actors join the cast. Academy Award nominee Minnie Driver, known for The Phantom of the Opera and Circle of Friends, will star alongside Stanley. He will play the role of Anjou, the younger brother of King Charles, who is non-conforming and capable of disruptive violence.

Piers shared Stanley's announcement as he said: "Congrats @stanley.morgan - no need to prep for this character..." The TalkTV host rarely shares his family life but gave fans an insight into his recent festive period. Piers got all his kids together for a snap - lining them up in front of a Christmas tree. The TV star flashed a smile and shared the photo on Instagram alongside the caption: “Merry Christmas from the Morgan squad.”

The 58-year-old has been married to journalist Celia Walden, 47, since 2010 following his marriage to nurse Marion Shalloe from 1991 until 2008. After marrying Celia, Piers became a father again welcoming daughter Elise who arrived in November 2011. Stanley previously branded Piers "the best dad anyone can ask for".

Piers had shared how he had a civil debate with Stanley over his comments about Naomi Osaka's decision not to take part in any interviews during her time in the French Open. Stanley re-shared his dad's comments, adding that while he disagrees with him on a lot of things, Piers is a good father.

Piers said: "Had a very lengthy, heated debate with one of my sons @StanleyMorgan18 about Naomi Osaka & mental health etc. We agreed on some points, vehemently disagreed on others, then shook hands and went for a beer together. This is how democracy should work. Wokies should try it."

Stanley retweeted the post, as he added: "He's controversial, he's abrasive, he's hated, he's loved etc etc. But above everything he's the best dad anyone can ask for and although our views differ politically and socially it's important we all chose to discuss and challenge each other's views respectfully!"
