Sharon Osbourne and James Corden's relationship after savage TV rant
Celebrity Big Brother star Sharon Osbourne has branded TV presenter James Corden a "name dropper" in a savage late night rant. But how do the British A listers know one another? We take a closer look...
Back in 2018 Sharon, 71, posted a happy snap of her cuddling up to fellow Brit James, calling him her "English buddy". The TV presenter was three years into his hugely successful stint on The Late Late Show in the US at the time and Sharon had been an early guest when he moved to LA, handily hitting the headlines when she revealed she used to send her critics boxes filled with her children's poo.
James, 45, went onto reciprocate in 2017 by appearing on Sharon's panel show The Talk ahead of hosting The Grammy Awards and Sharon popped onto The Late Late Show once more in 2019, this time revealing she had once head butted a promoter who refused to pay her what she was owed. Sharon's daughter Kelly has also appeared on Late Late, getting flirting lessons in a lighthearted segment back in 2017.
Sharon and James seemed like firm showbiz pals, or at the very least acquaintances, mixing in the same A list circles in LA. They bumped into each other at showbiz bashes like Elton John's 70th birthday party, which featured performances by Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder.
But it seems behind the scenes, the reality TV star wasn't so impressed. Sharon, who is making a five-day guest appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, opened up to her pal Louis Walsh and Gary Goldsmith, the uncle of Princess Kate, when the trio were chatting about name droppers. "I tell you who does that, James Corden," she said. "He does that all the time. I go to him: 'I really like your shoes' and he goes 'Stella McCartney'.
TOWIE's Chloe Brockett makes cheeky dig at Saffron Lempriere during filming"I didn't ask you who made them - I just said I like your shoes. He constantly and constantly throws out names. When he got to America, he played the LA game really well. [Kissing all the right people]."
Sharon isn't the only person to publicly slate James, with Spice Girl Mel B branding the Gavin and Stacey star the rudest celebrity she had encountered. Two years ago, restauranteur Keith McNally famously described the presenter as a "tiny cretin of a man" after he was rude to his servers.
The TV presenter wasn't the only person the Osbournes star lashed out at in her outburst on the ITV show - she also branded US Vogue editor Anna Wintour the "C-word" and mimicked throwing up when the chat turned to US TV star Ellen DeGeneres.
Watch Celebrity Big Brother Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
