Prince Harry "regrets" the bombshell interview he and Meghan Markle did with Oprah Winfrey, but it seems his wife doesn't feel the same way.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex sent shockwaves around the world when they sat down with Oprah three years ago and made a number of allegations about their time in the Royal Family. They claimed conversations had been had about how dark Prince Archie's skin might have been when he was born, while Meghan accused the Princess of Wales of making her cry just days before her wedding.

Meghan and Harry were slammed for the interview and royal author Tom Quinn believes it has caused tension in their marriage over the years. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, he said: "Harry does regret the Oprah interview because it didn’t produce the result he and Meghan wanted.

"Their friends encouraged them to think the world would want to hear 'their truth' but instead they were widely mocked and criticised - and cut off completely by the Royal Family." The couple have since developed a strained relationship over the years, with Harry even becoming estranged from his brother Prince William.

Tom said: "Harry actually misses his family, for all their faults. He's stuck in Montecito with not very much to do and no way back to the only life he knew until he met Meghan."

However, the royal commentator said Meghan doesn't feel the same way as Harry. He explained: "Meghan doesn't regret the interview and the fact that they feel different about it is a source of tension between them."

Tom continued: "At first, it was liberating - I mean the fact that they were able to get their revenge and very publicly for what they felt had been done to them, but they were shocked at the fallout – when even South Park took a hilarious pop at them – they really did begin to wonder if they had gone too far and that feeling has only increased over the intervening three years."

Harry and Meghan delivered a number of bombshells with their Oprah interview, with the Duke of Sussex admitting he felt "let down" by his father. Harry said he had been cut off financially from King Charles.

The couple also revealed an unnamed member of the Royal Family had raised "concerns" with Harry about how dark their then-unborn son Prince Archie might be. Harry admitted he had been "shocked" by the conversation.

The royal race row reignited last year when author Omid Scobie released his bombshell book Endgame. King Charles and the Princess of Wales were dragged into the row when a version of Omid's book named them as the royals involved.

Omid originally denied ever having named the royals. He told the BBC: "The book I wrote, the book I edited, the book I signed off on, did not have names in it."

After originally denying naming Charles and Kate, he eventually admitted he did name the alleged "royal racists" in an "early" version of his book. The writer said that "uncleared text" was provided to a Dutch publisher with plans that a translation "would be updated to reflect the final version of the book".
