A family have been left heartbroken after their dog was "eaten alive" by another hound while out on a walk.

Noah Wilson fought back the tears as he recalled the horrifying incident in Coventry this week. He was walking on Milverton Road and was nearly home when suddenly a "big massive dog" ran at Pluto, the family dog of 15 years. West Midlands Police are investigating what happened and appealing for information. Noah, a teen, said Pluto had already passed away by the time they got to the vet and he devastatingly had to carry his "best friend" home.

He told CoventryLive.: "I walk my dog down there everyday, I was coming up to turn home and I saw this big massive dog and it just run at my dog and just started eating him. It just completely ripped him (Pluto) up. He had already died when we got him there (to the vet). We just can't believe it has happened. everyone loved Pluto, he was such a lovely dog. He (Pluto) never hurt anyone and everyone around our street and the area loved him."

Noah said they can see the "very spot" where the attack happened from their family home, so he can't forget what happened. He said the whole attack happened within 45 seconds and he claimed that the dog's owner did not even apologise. He continued: "She showed no sympathy towards me, she didn't even come to apologise or even come to our house to say sorry. The dog just got out of the gate and just started attacking Pluto. It did not let him (Pluto) go, it just carried on ripping him until the owner got there."

The teenager alleges that the owner's dogs have been involved in other incidents, but he claims that the police do not want to get involved. He and his family have been out knocking on doors in the area to see if anyone has any CCTV or doorbell footage that could prove the severity of the attack.
