LinkedIn is not working and users are seeing an 'error has occurred' message when trying to access it.

The popular job and business social media site, owned by Microsoft, stopped working around 4pm ET. More than 40,000 people have reported problems via the Down Detector site and that number is going up. Frustrated users are turning to other platforms to vent.

It comes a day after all of Meta's platforms crashed in spectacular fashion across the globe. Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and more went down last night, for nearly two hours. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index calculated the outage has reduced the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg's net worth by 2.2%, or nearly $3 billion.

Twitter (now renamed as X) user @jmorris_ writes: "Within the last 24 hours we’ve had outages on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Last week we had a T-Mobile outage. They (not sure who this is yet) are doing their trial runs for the grid shutdown as we speak. World gonna huge end soon." [sic]

Downdetector shows more than 48,000 reports, and the most reported problems include 70% about the website, 28% about the app and about profiles. One user wrote: "LinkedIn totally down for me. Both on the Android app and the web. Can't even access my feed." Another joked: "I guess LinkedIn is not... linked... in.... lol."
