Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's famous pal makes awkward royal title joke
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently welcomed a new pet to the family, after rehoming it from a very famous celebrity friend. And with the sweet gesture came a rather awkward joke about royal titles.
Over the course of their relationship, Harry and Meghan have owned a number of dogs together, some of whom featured in their tell-all Netflix docuseries.
The couple also own chickens - also featured in their show - and they received a brand new member of the flock back in January.
Ellen DeGeneres revealed that one of her chickens had gained a new royal title when it was taken in by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The former talk show host took to Instagram to share an update on her chicken coop. And in the caption, she explained that one of her chickens had an injury and needed to be relocated because of how the fellow chickens were treating her.
Kate Middleton swears by £19.99 rosehip oil that helps 'reduce wrinkles & scars'"Sinkie's leg is fixed but our chickens were still picking on her so she had to be re-homed," her Instagram post read. "Luckily our friends Harry and Meghan's coop had room for one more. Not sure yet what her royal title will be. Thanks Dr Christine Sellers for your excellent care of Sinkie."
Since moving to California, Harry and Meghan have rescued a number of chickens from a factory farm. They are kept in a coop named 'Archie's Chick Inn' in honour of their eldest child.
Fans were delighted by the news - and quick to offer new titles for the rehomed bird. "Princess Sinkie, the Duchess of Yolk," one suggested, while a second said: "Duchess of Susseggs." "Lady clucks a lot," added a third. And a fourth proposed, "Her Henness?!"
Harry and Meghan have lived in Montecito since 2020, along with their two children, Archie and Lilibet. Given the distance between the family and the royals - both geographically and as a result of the couple's numerous explosive allegations - an expert has warned that Archie and Lilibet have "huge obstacles" in their way when it comes to having a relationship with King Charles.
Royal expert and author Tom Quinn exclusively told the Mirror: "There are huge obstacles to King Charles having a relationship with his grandchildren. It's not just the fact that they live in the States and that Meghan recalls her time in the UK with anger and upset, it's that no one in the family now trusts the couple - any time the Sussexes and their children spend with Charles is risky for the royal family. Once you have washed the family dirty linen in public no one is going to trust you not to do it again."
Quinn previously claimed that "no one trusts Harry" following his outbursts about the Royal Family on the small screen and in his memoir, Spare.
"Charles is also aware that, as future king, William is at the heart of the succession planning that is taking place right now – officials had assumed Charles would remain healthy at least into his mid-eighties before succession planning would need to begin but in fact it has now begun and indicates perhaps that Charles' cancer is more dangerous than we have been led to believe," Quinn said.
"Succession planning is highly secret and no one trusts Harry to be part of it for the simple reason that if he feels in any way slighted or not given what he feels he deserves he will run straight to the media."
