GB News has been dealt a huge blow as they've been hit with 414 Ofcom complaints.

The new channel has faced criticism from viewers after Nigel Farage made comments about Jeremy Corbyn. A report from the broadcasting regulator has showed the comments were aired on 28 February 2024. The former UKIP leader had addressed Keir Starmer ’s claims that Rishi Sunak was “dancing to Farage’s tune”, when he made the comment.

Farage said: "I was never a subscriber to the madcap conspiracy theory that the Jews run the world. But I tell you who was, yes, Jeremy Corbyn. The Labour leader that you supported. Yes, Jeremy Corbyn and you went to a conference Sir Keir where there was a Palestinian flag on the chair of every Labour MP."

Former Labour leader Mr Corbyn revealed he would be taking legal action against Farage over the “disgusting” and “defamatory” statement. Earlier this week Mr Corbyn said: "I have asked my lawyers to take the first steps in commencing legal proceedings against Nigel Farage, following a highly defamatory statement about me. We are a movement for peace — and we cannot stand by and let these disgusting and malicious lies go unchallenged.

"Our demonstrations for a ceasefire are made up of people of all ages, faiths and backgrounds, united in a desire to end human suffering. We continue to march because people continue to die - and we will not allow others to cynically and deliberately distort our calls for peace."

The clip of Farage quickly spread on social media, as viewers also appeared unimpressed with the remarks. One said: “Nigel Farage claims on national TV that Jeremy Corbyn thinks the world is controlled by a secret Jewish shadow government. How is this not an Ofcom violation?”

Another added: "@ofcom or can this station just do as it pleases?" Someone else commented: "Don’t go there Nige." Yesterday, Dan Wootton was dropped from the channel after he was initially suspended over his controversial Laurence Fox debate. It came just hours after Ofcom ruled the “misogynistic” comments made on his show broke broadcasting rules.

In September, Wootton had been slapped with a suspension from the network which is said to champion "free speech". During the GB News broadcast, Fox . Yesterday, Wootton said: "I have left GB News to launch my own independent platform Dan Wootton Outspoken which will feature a brand new daily news and opinion show from later this year that will NOT be regulated by the Ofcommunist censors. Free speech in Britain is in peril!"

He hit out at Ofcom in his statement as he added: "However, yesterday's chilling Ofcom report clearly raises far bigger issues. How can any broadcaster or publisher truly stand for freedom of expression when state goons have the power to decide what you are and are not allowed to say on air? Unlike the freedoms enjoyed in the US thanks to the First Amendment, how can these media outlets ever be anything other than controlled opposition?"
