Meghan's return to the new Suits spinoff has been hotly debated

Following the news that Suits spin-off series Suits: LA has been greenlit, Meghan Markle’s former co-stars have spoken out about her potential return.

It is well documented that the Duchess of Sussex is desperate to reignite her acting career. Meghan, 42, starred as paralegal Rachel Zane in the hit TV legal drama from 2011-2018 but gave it all up when she married Prince Harry. Since the Sussexes stepped down from their royal duties in 2020, the mother-of-three has been looking for ways to return to Hollywood.

With the announcement that a Suits spin-off series is soon to be in the works, fans have been speculating whether it will be the opportunity Meghan has been looking for to come back to our screens. And now her co-stars have spoken out - but it looks like they are not all on the same page.

The growing speculation about Meghan's potential return to Suits came after her on-screen husband Patrick J. Adams - who played Mike Ross in the drama - said he "hopes she comes back". Speaking at the Golden Globe Awards in January, he hinted that he and the Duchess could return to the spin-off. He said: "Yes, yes let's go, I'll do it. Yeah I'm ready, Mike and Rachel in Seattle,” and then added: "I think Meghan's a fantastic actor, so we'd be lucky to have her back in the industry.”

However, at the same ceremony, Meghan seemed to have been snubbed from a reunion between the rest of the Suits cast - leading some fans to speculate that Patrick’s response was sarcastic. One wrote on social media: “It is obvious the cast don’t want to work with Meghan again.”

Conversely, Meghan’s on-screen dad, Wendell Pierce, had nothing but love for his former co-star, calling her “the nicest person ever”. He explained that the fact Meghan wants to return to acting “bothers” him, saying: “The one thing that bothers me the most right now for Meghan is the fact that I know she would love to act again.”

Meanwhile, Rachael Harris - who played Sheila Sazs in the legal drama - has put the record straight in an exclusive interview with The Mirror . The star revealed none of the original cast - including Meghan - would be appearing in the new show.

Describing a conversation between herself and Suits creator Aaron Korsh, she said: “Of course when I got wind that they were doing a Suits LA I was like, okay, so when am I working? And he was very clear with me that no one from the previous cast is going to be in Suits LA."

Rachael added that Aaron had not mentioned Meghan at all, claiming the pair “don’t talk about the Duchess”. She said: “He has not said anything to me about Megan popping in. We don't talk about the Duchess. It's rude. She has enough going on.”
