A woman who was discovered dead in her own home has been named by police as a man has appeared in court charged with her murder.

Christine Bauld was found badly-injured when police arrived at the The Coppice in Burbage, near Hinckley, Leicestershire on Sunday morning. Attempts to save the 55-year-old woman failed, and the following evening Gregor Bauld was charged with her murder.

He appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court this morning where the relationship between the pair was not given. Bauld, 22, of no fixed abode, was remanded in custody and will appear at Leicester Crown Court later this week. The court heard that he was charged with murdering the woman and with possessing a kitchen knife while in public.
