A heartbroken mum who lost her "beautiful kind gentle" son after his former friend stabbed him to death has hit out at the thug who turned on him.

Lindsey Allison has opened up about the tragedy after her son Taylor Black, 18, was brutally knifed 64 times by his former pal Nathan Costello in Stockton-on-Tees. She described him in two words and branded him an “evil f****r”. The uni student had enjoyed a party the night before and went to visit Costello, whom he knew from martial arts training, the following day. But Costello suddenly turned on him and knifed him in the chest before he took the blade to his skull and stabbed him 40 times.

Four years on from the ordeal, Lindsey has shared that Costello has never shown remorse for his actions. She also slammed the killer after she was dealt another blow during her son's murder trial. Her brother Niki sadly took his own life after he struggled to cope with the horrific details of the murder. She hopes Costello "rots in hell" as he serves his life sentence behind bars.

She said: “He has never reached out and apologised, not once, not even in court. Neither has his family who we had known prior to Taylor being murdered - not that I want any of them to. I just hope that he rots in hell so I never have to think of him again. Not that I do anyway to be honest, he doesn’t deserve my thoughts and shouldn’t be breathing the same air as us.”

Costello pleaded not guilty to murder and claimed he had no memory of the frenzied attack – even though he admitted to it in text messages he sent to friends afterwards. And despite being shattered, Lindsey now continues to stay strong for her other son, Shae, who wrote a moving letter calling for an end to knife crime, reports the Daily Star. Remembering her eldest boy on the month anniversary of his death, Lindsey wrote on Facebook : “I would sign up to be your mum a million times over Taylor, my beautiful kind gentle boy. I might have only had 18 short years with you but by god you made me the happiest person alive.

“You were the most selfless person I’ve ever known and while it kills me everyday that you aren’t here with me I cherish every single second I had you in my life. I don’t know one person that had a bad word to say about you apart from the evil f***er who took you away from me. You were and still are my best friend and although I can’t see you I know you are always there helping me to get through this life without you until the day I see you again and I am so grateful that I have your little brother Shae. You would be so proud of him - he is growing up to be just like you.”

Taylor, who once dreamed of being a journalist, had his life cruelly cut short on February 17, 2020, when he was home from university visiting his mum and younger brother. Hours before taking his final breath he asked his mum whether she wanted to watch a movie before remembering he had a pal’s birthday party to go to. She dyed his hair red for the occasion and last month she opened up about her heartbreaking last moments with him before he left home for the final time. Lindsey previously opened up to Daily Star about arriving at the scene of her son’s death. She said: “A police officer told me Taylor was dead and I just fell to my knees and screamed. I looked at my mum in the distance and just yelled ‘he’s dead, he’s dead’ over and over.”

She later had to buy her brother Niki, 31, who took his own life, and she told us: “My son’s killer took two lives when he decided to butcher my son. He took the life of my brother too. Niki was vulnerable and didn’t know the gruesome details of Taylor’s death until he read about it online during the trial. It pushed him over the edge. So I had to bury my brother after already burying my son. I don’t know what I did to ever deserve that.”
