Martin Lewis is usually on our screens giving us his vital money-saving tips - so fans were stunned when he tucked into a KitKat in a very controversial way.

The Money Saving Expert joined ITV's This Morning for the first time as a guest host this week, elating fans who were eager for savvy budgeting advice. However, viewers ended up wanting to "call the police" over the way he chomped down on the choccie bar.

Although there's no "right" way to eat a KitKat, most chocolate fans insist the best etiquette is to tear each finger off one by one and eat individually. But Lewis went against the grain, taking one big chaotic bite across all four chocolate fingers. And it's safe to say it's shocked the nation.

The official This Morning account posted the snippet from the show on X, formerly known as Twitter, to share the controversial chocolate habit. The team wrote: "We're astonished at how @MartinSLewis just ate this chocolate bar!" and asked: "How do you like to tuck into yours?" His strange technique has made people "question everything" now.

His fellow co-hosts were equally astounded by the ordeal. "I've always trusted Martin. He's my go-to person for anything financial. But after this I'm questioning everything," one X user jibed, while another simply put: "I'm calling the police".

It came after the hosts, along with guests on the show, were debating how to properly eat a Cornish pasty after a debate on the correct method swirled online. It was in this moment that the money guru controversially tucked into his chocolate bar, further dividing opinions.

"I liked him until he did that, what sort of savage is he?" one viewer joked, and another shocked fan penned: "Never. You break them apart and eat a stick at a time."

However, one fan seemed to be in favour of his method and said: "Rarely eat them … but yes no prob with eating all 4 at once."

After being a part of the This Morning show for 21 years, Lewis revealed his presenting debut was a "bucket list moment" as he joined Josie Gibson to host Monday's show.
