Fern Britton made her debut during tonight's dramatic Celebrity Big Brother launch - and she appeared to allude to "seeing some terrible things" throughout her career.

Joining hosts Will Best and AJ Odudu as the last housemate, she said: "I don't know what time it is but I'm damned sure it's past my bedtime! It's late isn't it?" Will retorted: "And you're not going to know the time now for about three weeks! Listen, Fern, you've seen a lot in your career..."

She interjected as she put her hands over her face and said: "I've seen some terrible things." Will awkwardly laughed before telling her: "You ain't seen nothing yet!" Swiftly changing the subject, he asked if she thought she was ready for the Big Brother experience. "I'm very excited for an adventure," she replied diplomatically. "So, you know, let's have an adventure!" "Let's have it, that's the spirit!" AJ declared before ushering her into the Big Brother house to meet her housemates.

It's been six years since Celebrity Big Brother graced our TV screens, but the show kicked off with a bang this evening as 13 famous faces stepped into the iconic house. The tension certainly ramped up as the launch aired live for the first time for ITV as hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best welcomed the stars into the fold.

To ensure they secured the best of the best for their very first series, ITV bosses are said to have splurged £2million on the diverse line-up. With throwback names like Louis Walsh and Fern Britton to newer faces like Heartstopper's Bradley Riches and presenter Zeze Millz and then Kate Middleton's uncle, this year's series could prove to be its most dramatic yet.

Last week, the Mirror was invited to a sneak peak tour of the celebrity house and host Will revealed the house has undergone one huge change from last year’s reboot - frosted shower doors. "To give the new housemates some more privacy," he explained. Fair enough!

The house is bright and beautiful with glitzy stars found on the floor throughout the house. Inside the living area the celebrities will find the open plan living space with colourful sofas in a circle – which sets the scene for the new housemates having to do face-to-face nominations. The sofas back onto the kitchen and glitzy dining area, meaning celebrities will find little room for privacy.

Considering this year's line-up, plenty of hot tea looks ready to be spilled and secret gossip shared - and there's one person who certainly won't hold back from dishing the dirt. "Everyone loves Louis and they’ll see him for the fun, big hearted and spirited person that he is in the Big Brother house," a source close to Louis told the Mirror. "But the thing you have to remember about Louis is that he’ll say it how it is and if he’s doesn’t like something, he won’t hold back. He’ll be entertaining and I expect he’ll do really well."

He will be reunited with his former X Factor co-star and long-time pal Sharon Osbourne later this month when the mum-of-three enters the Celebrity Big Brother house as a special guest. While fans will be looking forward to watching some possible antics from the two friends, but both stars will be on their best behaviour if ITV bosses get their way.

Sharon and Louis were famous for their scandalous remarks and actions during their time on The X Factor. But since their last appearance on the show in 2017, ITV has done more to look after the well-being of its stars. Both stars have been given "respect and inclusion" training ahead of making their CBB debuts.

Louis and Sharon - in addition to all 2024 Celebrity Big Brother housemates - have been given training to grasp what counts as proper "use of language and behaviour" before entering the famous house on Monday night. Speaking prior to the standard series of Big Brother kicking off last summer, ITV said: "Housemates are provided with and talked through the Housemate rules, which set out expectations and explain key aspects of life in the Big Brother House."
