Aaron Taylor Johnson, 33, shares gushing tribute to wife Sam as she turns 57

Aaron Taylor-Johnson called Sam Taylor-Johnson his soulmate as he celebrated her 57th birthday with a loved up message.

The actor, 33, and director Sam have been together for almost 15 years now now, after having met when working on the film Nowhere Boy in 2009. The relationship has attracted much attention over the years, including remarks over their age gap but he refuses to shy away on social media.

As his wife marked her big day, he uploaded a gushing post with a sweet black and white photo of them in each other's arms. He wrote a cute Instagram tribute to her, reading: "Happy Birthday my darling @samtaylorjohnson. You’re an exceptional woman, there’s really no one I know quite like you.

"You are the most wonderful doting mother and beautiful role model to our 4 daughters. A gorgeous loving wife, you are my love, my soulmate and I’m always blown away by you.," he went on. "Your so cool. I couldn’t be more proud and excited for this year ahead for you."

Aaron - who has since worked with Sam on other projects like the film A Million Little Pieces six years ago - addressed their relationship in an interview last summer. He told Esquire in response to the suggestion: "I met Sam as actor and director." Aaron said that although they are "really great" at collaborating, the relationship is based on more than that. "That's not why I fell in love with her," he said.

Aaron didn't provide much more insight into the couple's relationship, though he did tell the outlet: "I've got really nothing to hide, and I'm secure in what we have. But I'm not going to unlock things that are actually precious to me."

Sam previously told Harper's Bazaar that they were "very professional" on the production and began dating after filming the project. They got engaged in 2009, with the relationship attracting attention and controversy at the time. The couple - who got married in 2012 - have two children together.

They're parents to Wylda, 13 and Romy, 11. The family also includes Sam's daughters Angelica, 25, and Jessie, 15, from her marriage to art dealer Jay Jopling, 60. Aaron suggested to Esquire that he had known he would be a "young father" years before becoming a parent. And he further told the outlet during the interview that he had long suspected that he would also have a "big family".
