Two Coronation Street legends have made their return to the ITV soap tonight.

Alan Halsall and Jennie McAlpine - who play Tyrone Dobbs and Fiz Stape on the ITV soap - were back on our screens tonight as Alan returned following his brief departure to recover from surgery whilst Jennie made her first appearance since welcoming daughter Doris into the world. Fans were thrilled to have the pair back on the show.

One wrote: "Welcome back Tyrone and Fiz! #Corrie," whilst a second added: "Fiz is back! #Corrie." A third shared: "Welcome home Fiz," with a fourth writing: "FIZ IS BACK!!!! YAY!!!!!!! #Corrie."

Alan previously updated fans on his injury, after taking some time away from the soap to recover. He wrote: "ACL Reconstruction surgery. Well, On Friday I underwent ACL reconstruction surgery. I have been told the surgery went really well. I know I have a long 9-12 months of rehabilitation ahead of me but I’m sure with the support of family & friends I’ll get there."

Back in November, Alan was meant to go into the I'm A Celebrity jungle but was forced to pull out due to the injury. A source told us at the time: "It’s a big blow, but there’s no way he can go to Australia – his surgeon would have a fit. Alan needs to recover fully and then maybe he can take part next year. It’s a massive shame because everyone was really looking forward to having him on the show, but these things happen." He had to also take a brief break from the soap to recover, which saw him go and visit Fiz. A Coronation Street spokesperson shared previously: "Alan will be on screen in the coming weeks as we film two months ahead, and then he'll be taking a short break whilst he recovers," with Alan now back on our screens.

Elsewhere, Jennie McAlpine is also back too, following her break for maternity leave. Speaking about the arrival of her baby, and their decision to call her Doris, she shared last year: "There were a lot of boys’ names discarded, mainly because of football. Albert is a Manchester United fan and I think he left us with about two boys’ names to choose from. Doris is a family name and I love that it goes with Albert and Hilda. They’re also all very ‘Corrie’. The actress who played the first Rovers landlady, Annie Walker, was called Doris Speed so there’s obviously something in my DNA that means these baby names keep happening!"
