ITV has sparked rumours that Kate Middleton's uncle, Gary Goldsmith, may have withdrawn from Celebrity Big Brother.

The show is due to return tonight (4 March), and fans are speculating that Gary, who was widely rumoured to be a contestant, has decided not to participate. The gossip started after a segment on ITV's Lorraine, where host Lorraine Kelly named the celebrities rumoured to be entering the famous house.

Interestingly, she didn't mention Gary, 58, even though he's been mentioned in many other reports. Since the revamped show will air on ITV2, many viewers think this could mean that the businessman with Royal connections, spotted in London's Soho over the weekend, won't be joining the show.

Adding fuel to the fire, Lorraine also mentioned Love Island's Chloe Burrows as a potential housemate - despite her not being rumoured for some time. On Twitter (X), some fans expressed their confusion. One wrote: "Is there something we don't know..? ! Why did Lorraine talk about the rumoured cast but instead of Gary Goldsmith, they have Chloe Burrows from love island? ! #CBB".

Another fan asked: "Is Gary Goldsmith about to do a Stormy Daniels #CBB #CBBUK," referring to the 2018 incident when actress Stormy Daniels was supposed to enter the CBB house but pulled out at the last minute. A third fan hinted that the reference to Chloe was a mere distraction, saying: "Lorraine trying to throw us off the scent with swapping out Gary Goldsmith for Chloe Burrows - to be fair Chloe might have been a better signing? #CBBUK".

During her segment of the show, Lorraine mentioned other possible celebrity guests including Louis Walsh, Sharon Osborne, Fern Britton, Levi Roots, Ibiza Weekender's David Potts, Strictly's Nikita Kuzmin, Love Island's Ekin-Su Culculoglu, Coronation Street's Colson Smith, presenter Zeze Millz, Heartstopper's Bradley Riches, Real Housewives Of Cheshire star Lauren Simon, and American actress Marisha Wallace.

If indeed Gary is set to enter the house, it seems he might not be getting much family backing. Known for always speaking his mind, this infamous uncle of the Princess Of Wales could stir the pot quite a bit. Apparently, Gary's recent TV appearance greatly upset his elder sister Carole Middleton, 69, and her husband Michael, 74. The Sun reports, the couple gave Gary an earful expressing their unhappiness about his decision to participate in the show.

"Gary said he's been read the riot act by Kate's mum Carole and her dad Michael," said a source. "They aren't happy he's going into Celebrity Big Brother." Adding on, the insider pointed out that the family feels Kate, 42, who is currently recovering from abdominal surgery, doesn't need any additional "stress". They concluded: "It is infuriating for them. Kate doesn't need this stress."

However, Gary has always spoken warmly about his niece Kate and her husband Prince William, 41. He's also thought to have kept a close bond with the Middletons over the years. He was present at Kate and William's wedding in 2011, as well as at Kate's sister Pippa's marriage to James Matthews in 2017. And back in 1980, Gary was an usher at Carole and Michael's wedding.
