There's nothing quite like the sound and scent of sizzling bacon in the morning.

We all like our bacon cooked to varying degrees of crispiness, but most of us can agree that there's nothing appealing about a limp rasher. It's a fine line between soggy and perfectly crunchy.

A chef has shared how he makes the "best bacon ever" without cooking it in oil or using an oven or an air fryer.

Chef Thomson, 23, has raked in over 41.1million likes on his TikTok videos where he shares his ultimate recipes. When it comes to cooking bacon he says the "most common mistake" people make is using a very high heat in a bid to speed up the cooking process, as they are left with "very dry and crusty" rashers.

"This is not a steak, you are not making a crust," he warned. The chef, from Canada, said if you ditch common methods and follow his, you will be left with "some of the best bacon you'll probably ever have".

The pro's technique requires you to add rashers to a cold pan to start. Next, he adds water to cover the bacon and turns up the hob to a medium heat. He leaves the pan for around three minutes until the water comes to a boil - said to be a "good sign".

He then flips the bacon a few times. The chef said: "Stop being afraid to flip the bacon. You do not need to keep the bacon on one side for a long time.

"You'll end up with this beautiful, soft, rich, chewy bacon." He added: "Using this method, you can still make the bacon crispy. Just leave it in the pan longer. There's a difference between crispy and burnt."

Commenting on the TikTok clip, one individual said: "I agree because I used to like crunchy bacon but I tried cooking bacon this way and it slaps."

"That's the best bacon I’ve ever seen," added another. "I love this bacon," added one other. But some others argued that the traditional way is better for crispy bacon.

"But but crunchy bacon is best," one pointed out. "What if I like my bacon burnt?," another said.
