Mum who was 'basically homeless' wins £500k house from raffle ticket
A single mum has landed a £500,000 mortgage-free home after buying a raffle ticket on a whim.
Angelika Wisniewska bought a ticket in a property raffle, not really thinking she'd win. But now the 34-year-old is the proud owner of a five-bedroom house in Carlisle saying she finally has the freedom she's always wanted. Angelika entered the Tramway Path prize draw after seeing other people win homes through the London-based property business.
She saw the draw advertised on Facebook while travelling home from the dentist with her children Cornelia, 10, and Ella, eight and bought a ticket on a whim "I've never won anything [before] maybe a pound in a scratch card," said the mum, who is originally from Poland but has been living in the UK for the past decade. "We were joking that one day we were going to win a big, big jackpot."

"I registered myself as a homeless person to the government and within a couple of months they offered me a house where I could live with the kids. It's just the council house, [they] are not the best.
"The whole over two years journey of refurbishing the whole place took a lot out of me." The mum entered the raffle near the end of last year, buying a £5 ticket online, and was shocked to win the enormous prize draw. Tramway Path has previously given away a £450,000 four-bed detached home in the Swinton area of Salford as well as several other UK homes.

Angelika was previously registered homeless before winning £500,000 (Jam Press/Tramway Path)The company is run by three brothers, Daniel, Jay and Will Twenefour, who say they're keen to transform the property market. Their most recent draw was for £500,000 in cash to help the lucky winner get their dream home. This meant Angelika won a mortgage-free five-bedroom home for raising her daughters.
Angelika explained that she didn't think she'd really win the money for the amazing house, which includes two living rooms, a utility room, a fancy new bathroom and a large garden, adding it's the "most rewarding" feat she's accomplished apart from having children.
The mum explained one of her top priorities while looking for a house was finding one with enough space to make a sensory room for her daughter Ella, who is non-verbal and has autism.
After winning the prize, she confided in her sister and plans to surprise the rest of her relatives once they've settled into their new property. In a lovely video, the brothers are seen chatting with Angelika and her kids after their win. The mum is seen telling her girls the exciting news, and they look overjoyed at the idea of having their own bedrooms.
