A transatlantic couple made up of an American girlfriend and British boyfriend have shared a now viral TikTok video detailing some common differences between how both countries describe different objects. The video has been liked over 170,000 times and attracted thousands of comments with other users of the app sharing their opinion on the differences.

On their joint account Rya_and_Luke the pair who share "couple videos" to their 138.5k followers regularly pointed out how they either pronounce or have different words entirely for the same object.

For example, Rya pointed out how Americans refer to 'parking lots' while Brits use car parks, or how people from the US prefer to eat popsicles while those from the UK have ice lollies. There were some things that had the same word - aluminium foil for example - but the pair pronounced it differently.

Other differences included band aids and plasters, packages and parcels and robes and dressing gowns. Whilst the pair each gave their reasoning why their country's name was right - they both agreed that Naughts and crosses was better than Tic Tac Toe for the common game.

The video which was posted on February 15 has garnered nearly 3000 comments, with people weighing in on each side of the debate. Some people even disagreed with the couple, sharing how different parts of the country have different names for the objects.

One user Cherrybee_ said: "As a Brit I have never once called it aluminium foil, it is tin foil" while another Joe187899 added:" House Coat if ya a northerner." Some didn't agree at all, with Yari Ruiz saying "Ice lolly sounds like something only small children should say lol."

The video has been viewed over 4 million times and has formed part of a series where the pair compare differences. The couple also quiz each other on their respective countries on the page as well as playing popular games from each of the regions.

In another video the pair comparte how Brits and Americans call motorways, Highways and the ultimate comparison - crisps Vs chips. The couple have now managed to make a whole series from their differences where they compare names of common items.
