The singer shared the exciting news with his followers after his wife Sarah Lou gave birth. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the former X factor star, 36, and his wife shared a sweet video of their new bundle of joy with fans as they revealed their newborn's name.
Aston and Sarah Lou are already proud parents to two sons – Grayson and Macaulay – and now the pair have welcomed a new addition to their brood - with a whole host of celebrities rushing to celebrate the Merrygold family growing even bigger.
Captioning a video of their youngest with their Instagram followers, Sarah and Aston wrote: "Hello world, my names Riley Skye Merrygold." In the video, baby Riley can be seen sleeping in a crib while wearing an adorable 'Hello world' baby grow and matching knitted hat.
Fans and famous friends rushed to congratulate the couple of the newest member of their family, with Aston's JLS bandmate Marvin Humes commenting: "Love you all..couldn’t be happier for you all..A GIRL!" Rochelle Humes, Marvin's wife, added: "Aunties still not over it. we love you baby girl."
Greggs, Costa & Pret coffees have 'huge differences in caffeine', says reportI'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! 2020 winner Giovanna Fletcher told the happy couple: "Congratulations to you all! Welcome to the world Riley!" Fleur East, who is currently pregnant with her first child, told Aston and Sarah: "Congratulations. Beautiful! Xxx."
Loved-up couple Aston and Sarah announced their pregnancy with a sweet video on their Instagram page in September last year. The clip began with their two boys Macaulay and Grayson sat on the sofa as Sarah asked: "Have we got your attention?", before Aston added: "Because we want to tell you something".
It then cut to a clip of Aston walking into a room to get something, which turns out to be a positive pregnancy test. The heartwarming video also documented the pair posing with the positive pregnancy test and footage of Sarah having an ultrasound scan with their boys and her husband watching.
Other precious moments from Sarah's pregnancy were included, such as one of their sons kissing a scan photo. The whole family came together at the end of the video as they touched the bump. A black screen then appeared saying: "In case you missed it, we're having a baby."
Aston also couldn't resist commenting as he gushed: "Baby M3rrygold 2024" followed by a three heart eye emojis. And the singer's fellow bandmate JB Gill penned: "The best news EVER Congratulations to you all! Big love from #TheGills". Aston and Sarah Lou welcomed son Macaulay in June 2020 while Grayson was born in 2018.
Back in 2020, Aston declared he had ruled out having any more children. Speaking with OK! Magazine, he gushed about fatherhood, as he said: "It’s great as it could be to be honest. It’s tiring but it’s even more rewarding because you get twice as much love – it’s incredible."
But, when he was quizzed on the idea of having more children the Everybody in Love singer said: "No. But that’s from me. You wanna… If you ask Sarah you might get a different answer. But I’m here now so I’m saying no." Aston shot to fame on The X Factor back in 2008 with JLS.
His bandmates played all important roles during his wedding to Sarah last year following their five year engagement. Martin Humes was a groomsman, JB officiated the wedding and Oritsé Williams completed the reunion, arriving at the bash with his then fiancée Kazz Kumar. The couple wed in Liverpool and had been together for ten years before saying 'I do'.
Aston proposed to Sarah on Christmas Day 2017 and they initially wanted a low-key wedding but they decided to supersize it after Covid kept them away from friends and family. "I would have been happy with a register office and Sarah would have too, but we both realised during Covid that we want our wedding to be a party," he explained.
