Rupert Murdoch's granddaughter has blasted her own marriage - branding her union with a British rapper "a s*** show."

Charlotte Freud, 23, tied the knot with musician Luke Story, in a lavish Cotswold wedding in July 2022, with billionaire media mogul Rupert, Hollywood actor Woody Harrelson and Claudia Winkleman present at St Mary’s Church in the village of Westwell as they exchanged vows.

But less than two years on from walking down the aisle, Charlotte - daughter of Rupert's TV executive daughter Elisabeth and PR expert Matthew Freud - has now claimed her union with Luke was essentially over within hours after the artist relapsed shortly after their wedding day.

Charlotte, who met at 18 when he was 33, claims the self-described recovering drug and alcohol addict suffered a blow to his recovery on the way to their honeymoon destination - something she now sees as "not a great sign". Charlotte says she soon realised Luke was "a first husband kind of a deal" and described their marriage as "a sh**show".

Luke encouraged Charlotte to join Narcotics Anonymous, helping to end her addiction to ketamine at the start of their relationship, but Charlotte now feels too much of their romance was focused on their respective recovery journeys. "It felt like there were three people in the relationship – me and him and our recovery," the granddaughter of billionaire Rupert says.

"If our recovery was strong then we were strong, and if it wasn't we were falling apart. We had a great relationship when we were sober, but neither of us could stay sober," she adds, before admitting to the MailOnline: "The wedding was so public and everyone thought our relationship was amazing."

Speaking in October 2021, Charlotte revealed how she met her now ex-husband while the pair were working at Notting Hill members’ club Laylow. She credited the model and DJ with putting her on the path to sobriety and described their relationship as "life-changing".

However, by September last year - just 14 months on from their star-studded wedding - Charlotte and Luke were officially divorced. Charlotte now lives in Los Angeles with a new partner and is planning to launch a dating app exclusively for sober people. Charlotte explains how dating as a sober person can be "isolating" in the UK, where a boozy culture is so prevalent.

Charlotte also admits Succession, the award-winning HBO comedy-drama centred on a media dynasty and the family battle for control of an entertainment conglomerate, is correctly based on her famous family - confessing the show is "totally accurate" and revealing she has watched it.

She makes the bold comparison between her mother and Sarah Snook's character Shiv Roy, who plays the ambitious daughter of media tycoon Logan Roy, played by Brian Cox in the series. "My mum is very Shiv-like in nature, though she doesn't agree," she quips. "I f****** wish my life were as dramatic as Succession."

"Whenever I watch it, I tell my mum, "Where's my helicopter? " instead, I have to ride the Tube," Charlotte jokingly adds to the MailOnline. She then telling admits she's probably spent more time with the character, Logan Roy, than she has with her real-life grandpa, explaining how she usually only sees billionaire Rupert at Christmas and admitting they don't "do much hanging out."
