BRIT Award host Clara Amfo made a savage dig as she introduced pop star Kylie Minogue to end the show.

The award ceremony returned on Saturday night live from London's O2 Arena. Queen of pop Kylie ended the show with a spectacular performance of her greatest hits following winning the global icon award. Ahead of introducing Kylie, the three hosts - Clara, Maya Jama and Roman Kemp - rounded off the show as they addressed the audience watching from home.

Clara quipped: "What a woman, the only Kylie that truly matters." It appeared to be a dig at Kylie Jenner. The Can’t Get You Out Of My Head singer took the reality TV star to court in 2017 as they both wanted to name their cosmetic ranges ‘Kylie’. Kylie Minogue went on to close to show by performing hits including Padam Padam, Love At First Sight and Can't Get You Out of My Head. Her performance comes after her iconic anthem Padam Padam failed to land a nod when the nominations for Best International Song were announced.

Padam Padam scored Kylie her first top 10 single in 12 years back in May, peaking Number Eight on the UK Top 40, and quickly developed into a pop culture moment. Fans were not impressed as one said: "Padam Padam not up for International Song...We riot." Another added: "Kylie snubbed by the Brits, I'm going to off someone..." Someone else commented: "We need to talk about REAL award snubs: kylie minogue not being nominated best pop song of the year for the BRITs."

The eligibility criteria for International Song of the Year are identified as the top 15 biggest selling songs rather than hand-picked by BRIT bosses. Speaking about performing at the event and her award Kylie said: "I am beyond thrilled to be honoured with the global icon award and to be joining a roll call of such incredible artists. The UK has always been a home from home so the Brits have a very special place in my heart. I have some amazing memories from the awards over the years and I can't wait to be back on the Brits stage."

Previous winners of the award include Sir Elton John, David Bowie and Robbie Williams. In 2021, the prestigious gong went to Taylor Swift. She became the first woman to scoop up the award. Kylie had previously won three BRITs and has sold over 80 million records across the world.

Ahead of the award show, host Clara said: “Hosting The BRITs is a bucket list job, I’m so very honoured and excited for this year’s show. Throughout my career, I’ve been so lucky to witness the growth of this year’s nominees and performers and I know it’s gonna be another special one. I can’t wait to hit the stage with Maya and Roman to celebrate these amazing artists at The O2!”
