Taylor Swift has been reflecting on her family ties to Singapore, revealing the country has a special place in her heart and saying it "means the world" for her to be back.

The 34-year-old pop superstar revealed during her first of six shows at the National Stadium in Singapore on Saturday that her mum Andrea spent a lot of her childhood with her parents and sister growing up there, meaning Taylor has been hearing about the country since she was young. In a video filmed by a fan and posted on X, formerly called Twitter, the musician can be heard saying: "My mum actually spent a lot of her childhood with her mom and dad and sister growing up in Singapore.

"So a lot of the time when we'd come here on tour, my mom would take me and drive me past her old house, where she used to go to school. So I've been hearing about Singapore my whole life." Continuing to tell fans how special Singapore is for her, Taylor added: "To get to come here and play a show this big with so many beautiful, generous people who are essentially honoring my family with what you just did with that song, it means the world."

She then told her fans: "I already love you. We're going to have a blast tonight." The six shows in Singapore are Taylor's only dates in southeast Asia - and after the final night, she will take a two-month break before resuming the tour in Paris, France, in May.

Taylor previously opened up about her mum's early years during an interview with The Straits Times in 2016. She said her mum had to travel for Taylor's grandfather's job and that reviving her childhood memories was "really nostalgic".

Last year, during a concert in Philadelphia on Mother's Day, Taylor paid tribute to her mum as she performed "The Best Day". She said: "I wrote this song just compiling these sort of core childhood memories I had of not just her as a mother, but her as a friend."

Taylor's parents are both big supporters of her career. Her father Scott is known for handing out guitar picks to fans while Andrea used to select fans on previous tours to meet her daughter backstage before the shows.

Earlier this week, we revealed that gamers have found a hidden reference to Taylor Swift in The Sims. Eagle-eyed players discovered the clear nod to the chart-topping Blank Space singer in the sandbox's latest add-on package. The "Crystal Creations" update includes a whole host of new fashion items, jewellery and furniture, including something for Swifties.

Fans have picked up on the brand-new Delicate Bracelet, with one penning on X: "TAYLOR SWIFT REFERENCE IN THE SIMS." The item's description reads, "Yes, it's cool you said that. Yes, it's chill they're in your head."

It adds: "You’re wearing the Delicate Bracelet." The new gaming item is of course a direct reference to 2017 Reputation track, Delicate. Lyrics include: "Is it cool that I said all that? Is it chill that you're in my head? 'Cause I know that it’s delicate."

Another fan finding the T-Swift item wrote on the social media site: "Y’know I might just buy the new pack… (even tho it’s been so long since I last played the game)." While a second added: "I love how all of my interests are somehow intertwined."

Someone else wrote: "Actually I'm pretty sure they even inserted a folklore album cover in one of the decorations,” another person said." The game's update is available on all platforms from Thursday, including Steam, Microsoft, PlayStation, and Epic Games.
