The BRIT Awards 2024 didn't go smoothly on Saturday night

The BRIT Awards 2024 viewers were not able to keep up with the live coverage on ITV thanks to a number of glitches.

The ceremony, hosted by Clara Amfo, Maya Jama and Roman Kemp at London's 02 Arena on Saturday night, was hit with issue after issue where the audio and cameras were concerned. From having to bleep out constant swearing to the sound cutting out, and then the cameras glitching during filming, viewers said it made the ceremony "awkward".

It got to a point that several viewers were questioning if there was something wrong with their TVs or the sound on their TVs, while internet issues were also questioned. Of course viewers quickly realised it was the show and nothing to do with them.

Taking to X, one viewer posted: "What’s happening here? The sound is so off." Another added: "Is there something wrong with my TV, or is the show glitching?!" as a third wrote: "Is it only my tv that's constantly glitching??"

Another fan commented: "I'm fully expecting the #BritAwards #BRITs glitchy broadcast to completely implode and ITV being forced to show a repeat of the 1% club." The comments kept on coming with one reading: "This show is replete with technical hitches," as another added: "What happened to the sound? Sounds like she’s singing from inside an old microwave."

Even without the glitches some viewers threatened to turn over with one writing: "This ceremony gets worse every year I need to switch off." A second added: "I may as well switch off now..." as a third wrote: "If it wasn’t for Kylie I would turn off."

Ahead of the show, the hosting trio all shared their excitement to be teaming up to present the awards. Clara said: “Hosting The BRITs is a bucket list job, I’m so very honoured and excited for this year’s show. Throughout my career, I’ve been so lucky to witness the growth of this year’s nominees and performers and I know it’s gonna be another special one. I can’t wait to hit the stage with Maya and Roman to celebrate these amazing artists at The O2!”

Maya added: “I'm really excited to be hosting The BRIT Awards alongside Clara and Roman. I’ve worked alongside the incredible team at the BRITs for years now and it’s something I always watched, and wanted to be a part of, growing up - so it’s amazing to be on the stage this year hosting it! It’s always one of the best nights of the year for me, and a real celebration of British music, culture, and talent.”

Roman shared: “This is a real pinch me moment! Hosting the BRIT Awards - what an honour. I remember watching the BRITs on TV when I was growing up so to be asked to host this year’s awards, is a dream come true. It’s going to be a privilege to share the stage with so many talented artists and to celebrate the incredible achievements of all the nominees and winners this year. See you there.”

The BRIT Awards was hit with controversy last year when no female artists made the final shortlist for Artist of the Year – which was subsequently won by Harry Styles. The British Phonograph Industry, who organise the annual event, have stated that gender balance has been readdressed following last year's outrage.

Speaking last month, BPI Chair Yolanda Brown, said: "We shared our upset that no women or R&B artists were represented last year. We consulted with our advisory group, we thought long and hard about moving forward."

The BRIT Awards 2024 airs live from 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, and will be available to watch in full on ITVX after.* Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on , , , , , and .
