A fuming Evangelos Marinakis reportedly chased referee Paul Tierney down the tunnel at the City Ground after his side were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool on Saturday.

Darwin Nunez headed home a 99th minute winner for the Reds from an Alexis Mac Allister cross as Jurgen Klopp's side earned what could be a potentially vital three points in the Premier League title race.

Forest fumed at the goal though, after it came just moments after referee Paul Tierney stopped the home side's attack due to a head injury for Ibrahima Konate. When the game was restarted Tierney gave Liverpool an uncontested drop ball, and from there the Reds eventually worked the ball up the pitch to win a corner, which Forest failed to clear before Mac Allister's cross was headed in by Nunez.

The goal sparked delirious scenes in the away end at the City ground, but Forest were left fuming. Coach Steven Reid was shown a red card after angry scenes on the benches, while unused substitute Felipe was booked. Marinakis could then be seen walking onto the pitch at full-time.

BBC Radio Five Live reporter Rob Schofield was inside the City Ground tunnel, and said: "You rarely see scenes like that in the tunnel. We saw Steven Reid getting frustrated. He and the Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis pursued referee Paul Tierney and fourth official Graham Scott all the way to referee's office yelling at them "Respect the players! Respect the players! This happens every week! Respect the players!

"Marinakis had to be removed by security at one stage. The Forest players were furious, Nuno looked absolutely crestfallen. Jurgen Klopp stormed past me saying he doesn't know why he's getting so much flak. It really was all kicking off down here. Furious scenes."

Forest boss Nuno remained tight-lipped about Tierney's display after the match, saying only: "I will not comment on the referee's performance."

Forest have previously submitted a formal complaint to the PGMOL over refereeing standards in their matches, while they recently took former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg on board to gain a greater understanding of decisions.
