EastEnders axed star gets help from soap co-star for 'new teaching job'

Max Bowden has taken up teaching acting lessons following his axe from BBC soap EastEnders.

The 29-year-old actor played Ben Mitchell on Albert Square but was surprisingly let go by soap bosses after five years in the role, in which he was involved in some big storylines including Ben's rape ordeal in 2022. Max's performances won him a few soap awards but it wasn't enough to convince producers to carry on with him in the role.

With his final scenes set to air in the coming weeks but Max has already moved onto his next project as his character bows out of Walford, much to the upset of soap fans who have enjoyed Max's portrayal, the sixth actor to play the character. Sources have claimed that it was his private life hitting the headlines which has made it difficult for bosses to continue with his. An insider told The Sun: “There has been a lot of noise around him for a bit too long and that can take away from the drama on the show."

With filming on EastEnders no longer an option for Max, it has been revealed that he will be teaching acting at his co-star and friend Jacqueline Jossa's drama academy. Jacqueline, who plays Lauren Branning in the soap, has hired Ben to deliver workshops to up-and-coming drama students, costing a reported £39 a session.

The news has been shared on Jacqueline's acting school's website, where it shares: " Max Bowden is a talented actor who has been in many plays, films and TV shows. This workshop will give you an insight into the industry firsthand. Max will be covering script work, monologues and confidence building. There will be a chance to get advice and tips/ techniques with a Question and answer session at the end.” Further advice then said: “Please bring a drink of water along to this workshop.”

The news comes after Max was embroiled in a foul-mouthed rant with a soap fan sharing a video of the actor telling bystanders out Elstree Studios in Borehamwood: "I'm so f*****g excited to get out". He has since hit out after the video was shared by The Sun, and said that it had been taken out of context. Max explained: "Anyone who listens to this audio will clearly hear this is not a foul-mouthed rant. I was talking about my excitement for the future and what’s to come."
